Is the website ever going to use HTML5?

Two years ago adobe dropped support for flash on android, to force people to start using HTML5. Now I have a Nexus 5 and even when I download an archived flash apk it doesn't work with the stock chrome browser.

It is used for embedded YouTube videos and mp3 tracks. I think at least, as those are the things I cannot see on my mobile.

I don't know much about flash or HTML5 but is the website ever going to switch over? Is that even possible with myBB and the embedded video and mp3 plug-in?

This question is mainly directed towards Rolle.

Hey man, maybe you should put a question up on here:

http://www.dayzrp.com/t-ask-the-admins

You might get a quicker response. :)

I thought about PMing Rolle on Skype but he's a busy man and by asking it here I am forcing one of you guys to ask him as long as the [not solved] tag is there. :P

I don't mind waiting for an answer. And the rest of the Admins wouldn't know anyway.

I have assigned the thread to Rolle for his attention so he can see this thread easier :)

On my android we still have embedded video, mp3 and images. It shows just like it would on a PC but of course in smaller resolutions.

Is HTML5 even offered with MyBB ?

Their forums seem to have quite active discussions on it and the MyBB developers seem to have moved or are in the process of moving towards it.

Edit:

(That thing said the release would be in 2014, not sure if happened as of yet).

Adobe flash isn't in the play store anymore. Google recommends downloading an archived apk but that doesn't work with the 4.4 KitKat stock chrome browser.

I've been told there are still browsers that support flash but I'd rather keep using the stock browser.

Custom browsers is an alternative, but most of them are buggy and has a user-hostile UI from my experience.

But is this for surfing the forums Gijs? If so, have you tried Tapatalk?

Hmm, I'm not really a fan of having to install yet another third-party application, but I will try it out.

Mp3 doesn't work, it just shows up as "[.mp3][/mp3]" without the dot. Embedded youtube videos don't seem to work either.

I strongly suggest using Tapatalk to surf the forums on the mobile. I do it myself and have been doing it for the past 8 months. It makes the forum very read-friendly and the user interface is very clean.

Short answer: No.

Mybb uses quite old school coding and design, it's years behind XenForo or IPB, so I wouldn't count on any major improvements.

I tried migrating current forums to IPB and it worked, but a huge amount of my custom code like player names, donation system, exchange, whitelist and others would have to be heavily modified or completely rewritten.

Fair enough. It's not that big of a deal. I'd rather keep using myBB with that one minor flaw than switch over to another platform. I like the website as it is now.

This can be solved. Thanks for the answer. :)
