Army

Today in the mail, I got an invitation to the Army.

Fortunately I'm not going anytime soon (still got a year of collage).

I'm mostly likely going for a normal foot-soldier, and there is no current war in my country so I'm most likely not going to get deployed anywhere, which is good ofc.

So I would like to ask what is it like in the Army?

If anyone knows from personal experience.

What I know from family, keep in touch. It can be lonely and anything from a letter to a phone call can make the change :)

Thats fine I can play without you scrub! we both know I carry you anyway :P

On the other hand you might come back from army training and be like MLG at ARMA

I was being somewhat serious about the MLG at ARMA thing ARMA being a military simulator there for already having military training would make you pro at it right?

But for actual advice make sure you keep in touch with people you care about because even though you say you wont miss them you will eventually.

Make sure you take some photos with you or something like that

ive got a little copy pasta wich is a bit related

Give me one good reason not to go for officer training after.

i'll go ahead and give you more than one.

The pay sucks.

The hours suck.

The work sucks.

The food sucks.

The quality of life sucks.

There's to much bureaucacy.

Your bosses are sociopaths with extremely poor judgment.

Your subodinates are too lazy or stupid to take the initiative to get things done.

Your peers are robots who cant or wont think critically.

You're pressured to comform to the lowest common denominater.

Thinking for yourself is fowned upon.

many of your associates are comfotable with committing war crimes as long as they dont get caught.

You end up having to babysit wife-beaters, Addicts, and toublemakers.

Everything they tell you is a lie.

You get fucked over on a daily basis.

You have to get up to damn early in the morning.

There's a fom for everything and you're one that has to fill it out.

You're forced to get vaccinations even the experimental ones.

You become institutionalized very quickly.

You learn the meaning of 'depressio' and 'post traumatic stress'

Your dream of becoming a hero dies with the fist IED blast you experience.

You realize the goverment doesnt care about you.

Once the till is gone you feel like a slave.

You cant quit with a 'two weeks notice' letter

Yeah there is more but you get the idea.

Dont do it.

Anyway! on the positive note its the best experience in life you can have joining the military cause you will have experiences where you think white bread and water are the most tastefull things ever!

I always sneaked in white bread in my clothing after chow

Anyway! i suggest you to watch Devil dog gamer his vids called marine corp mondays wich covers alot of stuff wich can get you a nice inside look how it is instead of the fancy talks of recruiters or those Ad's cause i can say that you arnt going to be a baddass cause i was cleaning more in the 43 mechanized infantry brigade in havelte then i holded a gun and did some stuff in the field.

Do it or dont do it! If you like some live experience and self defelopment to use for your whole life then do it! if you want to stay nicely in the comfort then dont do it! its up to you ;)

// Also if you want to be pay'd good and do nothing then join logistics i got a vew friends there who tell me they dont do stuff at all.

Oh it can be fun. Well... depending on what kind of fun you find fun.

If I remember correctly, you are from Croatia so you propably don't have the same level of speciality in "special ops" but here is a picture to make you afraid of the finnish military.

(Oh and yes, I've served my time. And yes, I did wear leather straps as a string. Once.)

A tip, the more specialized your training the more you get freedom, variety etc. Basic foot soldier's job is pure shit.

From my own personal experience, the army isn't that bad. I've been to FOBs before and seen how the soldiers in America live... some of them are even allowed their own home free of charge with all utilities included! I know an ex-military man named Jason who was in the military for 7 years and said that throughout those seven years, he got to be online for about 6,000 hours xD

They provide you with all the means for communication in my country, so there's very low chance of getting homesick (although it happens a lot more frequently when deployed). America's awesome ;P Oh, and I too am going to join the Military, so high five! ... well, I'll be joining once the Head Doctor looks at my medical files to approve me since I was born with three lungs... but yeah.

You'll make the closest friends you will ever have through shared hardships and ridiculous drinking sessions. Enjoy it.

I have not done a backround check on the Croatian military, but I would suggest special forces.
