ARMA2 CO CD Key Problems (Steam)

Question

Teas    1

Ok I have an ARMA2 CO question.

I've persuaded a friend of mine to buy a copy which he has, he's installed ARMA2 and Combined Operations and DayZ. All through Steam which I didn't so am not much help.

Now, when he gets the splash screen of tick boxes as ARMA(DayZ) boots up, it reaches the final 2 boxes and an error message comes up reference CD key not valid, or words to that effect.

Any suggestions as he really wants to get stuck in.

Also: ARMA2 and CO work fine as he says he's played some training missions to get a feel for keyboard controls, he is a complete PC and ARMA/DayZ novice.

I've seen similar notices when installing new beta patches. He should be able to just click through it and everything will be fine.

If he continuously gets this problem and can't get past it, maybe deleting and re-downloading might help.

But then if it says the error is something to do with the CD Key, then I'm not to sure. I'd just tell him to try what I said above.

Can't say I've really heard of this issue before.

It happens when you install a beta patch.. It happens to me, I am not sure in that case ^ if its to do with the beta patch. However, like Sin said, just click through it and you should be fine.

*EDIT* After reading what you said, I think its something to do with steam itself.. Heres a fix (I hope)

Run Steam as Admin

Run both ArmA 2 and ArmA: OA. They should both install battleye.

Download the Beta patch from commander (Preferably)

Now he should be able to play.

*EDIT 2* If he hasnt ran ArmA 2 and/or ArmA 2 OA, they registry keys wont have activated yet. So he needs to run both games first.

Joy, it was simply a case of running OA before hand.

Thanks for the help. You may mark as solved.
