Question

Okay so recently I bought a new MB and CPU i then found out that i had to re-install windows, I couldn't get on to my old windows due to it freezing because of then new MB to update it so i had to install it over my old windows, like a idiot i downloaded the 32bit one instead on the 64bit version and all my old files where 64bit so i ended up downloading windows again over my 32bit one and 64bit broken version in 64bit. I had to re-install everything but i still had all the programs from my old system, but for some reason then didnt work when i put them in my current program files. So I installed steam again even tough i already had all the files it just wouldn't open, and began to install arma 3 and arma 2 once I installed A3 i try to open it it downloaded D11 and went to the pre loading screen then does not open but in my task manager it says it is open and is using space!? Any ideas on what to do?

So you copied all the program files from your windows.old folder to your new Operating System? That wont work, youll have to manually reinstall all your programs again. Thats the annoying thing about Vista and Windows that it creates these .old folders. Id recommend just doing a disk cleanup first.

On the start menu type Disk Cleanup.

Click it.

Click © Drive

Click Ok.

Now Windows should find the Windows.Old folder.

It will say "Do you want to permanently delete?"

Click yes.

Hopefully that should work.

Whats D11?

Once you've tried the disk clean up for your main drive.

You should be able to access all your old windows folder, good luck man!

If you still have problems after, let me know! :)

What a mess :D I think it'd be better to just completely wipe by drive by removing all partitions and reinstall Windows and all software from scratch ;)

^This. I always wipe my computer around every 6 months and reinstall everything(which isn't that much really). Keeps my PC feeling frisky.

Do what Rolle said.

It's good for you and your computer... Downloading all shouldn't be such a big problem.

The day Rolle replies on one of my threads, the day I die a happy man :)

Glad you fixed it though.
