Firefight Zones

After reading several reports with people claiming that their KOS was legit because they where in a "firefight zone" I think there needs to be some clarification. Possibly in the form of an addition to the rules or the wiki. This addition would be a line telling everyone their is no firefight zone exception for identifying your targets and making sure you are killing the right people.

For anyone that thinks otherwise as of right now.

There is NO firefight rule exception. None. You must ID targets. Next answer like this from anyone is getting warning points.-Thumper Parrish

If anyone supports making an exemption for "firefight zones", please you are invited to make an intelligent argument for it here. As it stands now though there is none and I feel there should never be one, being a bandit should be hard not a FFA.

Its a tough call. In towns and cities on the map yes you should make sure you identify.

With settlements its a lot more tricky. After defending Altar many times it seems a lot of non clan based members just ran at the castle during a firefight towards all the noise. The other one was the people that were identified and gettting told 'there is a firefight leave the area' to just go stand outside the gates with not a care in the world of their life and causing mass confusion on an attacking and defending side. At times it felt like some people were just there for the loot and couldn't care less about the firefight because they knew they could just report if killed.

You never know who could walk into a fight and you can get punished for killing someone who looks really similar and suspicious. Doesn't seem right that is no firefight rule.

Great point maybe just standing around in a firefight area should be a reportable offence. With the explanation of just standing around as "Sitting motionless with out RPing being in a a place that your life is endangered." I stated above there is no exemption for being in a firefight and killing indiscriminately but there is a reduction in the punishment, because it is a slightly understandable thing. But my problem is that people are going into firefights expecting an exemption from the KOS and RDM rules.

These would be things to hammer out, there is blame on both sides when someone just runs to the sound of gunfire for loot, which is why you can shoot looters. But if people who hear the initiation when first done are given a chance to get away from a dangerous area why not randoms who are out for a stroll. Some firefights go minutes without a single shot being fired because people are positioning themselves and hiding from their enemies. To actually think someone that knows what is going on would run in an open field for without going into cover would be silly and that's the kind of person that shouldn't be getting shot at. It is common sense not to go to gun fire but when there is none you cannot blame people for going to high traffic areas or spawning in during a lull in the fighting.
