To play for as right now do you need to donate also if you would donate and get whitelisted from donating do you get to play?

If you donate the whitelist simply opens up for you. This does not mean you will be whitelisted. You still have to send in your application as normal and will either get rejected or accepted after a short amount of time. If you are accepted then you can play.

Currently white-listing is only open to donators.

It does not mean that you get accepted automatically you still have to write a good enough application. It only opens up the ability to white-list.
