Phoenix United

The city of Nyheim was founded to be a conduit for success, a beacon of hope, and a haven for all who pursued refuge. People migrated to this “new home” to rebuild unity, safety, and humanity.

But beneath the streetlights, behind the metal doors, and amongst the whirring hum of industry, the promise of a bright future began to dim with the rise of a so-called “order”. Promising security, PLIKT instead let their people suffer. In a scramble to stop the spread of the virus, the industrious yellow light of Nyheim quickly became one born from fire, as a dim, red light crept out of the crematoriums, and out into the streets.

The people watched as PLIKT’s corruption grew. Growing tired of the tyranny, brave men and women raised their fists with ambition, hoping to set the city they loved back on the right track. PLIKT responded the only way they knew how, plunging the city into martial law.

On that 25th of December, known as the Bloody Christmas, the visions of hope were smothered like mere embers. Ash enveloped the city, covering it in a veil of despair.

To this day, PLIKT’s grip tightens on the throats of the people. Piles of ash not only remind us of their tyranny, but also their failure to protect the people.

PLIKT has weaved a legacy of death, destruction, and failure. But beneath the ash, fiery embers are birthed, with Nyheim’s spirit of unity, safety, and humanity burning bright. For soon, these many embers will unite to burn brighter than ever before, and a new Nyheim will rise…

THE ORIGIN: PHOENIX RISING [PART ONE]

The sound resonated through the concrete jungle like thunder. As the rumble cascaded through the streets and rolled off the walls of the apartment buildings, the blast beckoned 5 good Samaritans to investigate. As they had all independently converged on the origin of the sound, they all looked upon a carcass of an infected, shot through the chest. How the creature had gotten this far into the city past the protection of PLIKT,  they did not know, but they all casted their perplexity aside and ensured that everyone was uninjured. The like minded individuals were coincidentally all headed to sell their items, so they stuck together. As they socialized outside of the trader, the 5 survivors quickly became friends; friends that would experience much to come. Their unique dispositions created a tightly knit dynamic, one that would make their future paths interesting.

Zachary Castle was kind, yet determined. His charisma came from his bluntness, coupled with his understanding. Something about him would make you think that he was searching for something, or someone that motivated him; he had a liveliness to him. Though he had appeared weathered by this cruel world, he was quick to a joke and could share a laugh. His bag was filled with books of all sorts; history, economics, storybooks, and manuals. Mentioning his passion for reading to his new friends, his eyes glazed over as he laid his hand upon a book, that of which the seams were coming undone. He quickly regained focus, and told tales of the old world, and how it operated. The group, though some were more obvious than others, were fascinated by his knowledge.

Colt Lancaster looked on with confusion, more than anything. As he questioned the ways of the old world, it became obvious that the workings of the world were more than unknown to Colt, as if they were alien. He spoke of the city, but used the terms “concrete giants” to speak of the buildings, and “lead tribe” to speak of PLIKT. He described a land laden with hills, and trees abundant, all while crediting the “Earth Mother” for blessing him and allowing him to live amongst nature. The rest of the gang were puzzled, but listened to him with respect, for this world was confusing for many.

Except for Aaron McCannon. As he sat on the steps to the trader, he looked around the city and at survivors walking by with shocking familiarity. As the people around him spoke of their inconveniences, he recognized them, but it seemed as if they were all old news to him. As he sat there, his right hand did not leave his hip, and sat atop his pistol’s grip. His fingers ran up and down the side, gliding over the dents and scratches left there by its seemingly storied history. Aaron seemed tethered to his weapon, as if he shared his existence with it.

Oscar Gulsvig sat on the hood of a crashed car alongside Zachary. As people spoke of their own trials and tribulations among the city, Oscar looked on with concern. Behind his eyes was the desire to truly help those around him, and he knew that brotherhood was the most important key to enacting change. He stoked the tenacious fire of his comrades around him, as if he wanted to spark conflict, but he did so with a weight on his shoulders; hoping nobody would truly get hurt in the way of righteousness.

Decker Grove made up for the group’s highly social nature with his silence. He sat on the edge of the sidewalk, keeping one eye on his new friends, and the other down the adjacent street, looking back and forth nearly all of the time. Occasionally he would peer down into the reflection of his polished knife, staring back into his own grey eyes through the hole in his ballistic mask. He would rarely interject, though he held his own disagreements with his group’s opinions. His quiet and brute nature masked his aura of awareness, as he always seemed like he knew what would happen next.

After the gang had hung around the trader and socialized with some more people of Nyheim, they decided their like-mindedness laid a good foundation for an official alliance. They proceeded to erect a safehouse to provide safe haven for each other, if they ever found themselves in need. Such construction turned a couple heads, and quickly a large mass of people had congregated amongst the trader. As people came and left, a large mass of what seemed to be thugs amassed, and commanded respect. Though the new friends had chemistry, some more than others in the group did not convey what others would call “respect”.

In what seemed like no time at all, everyone else except the new crew and the thugs were in the streets. As the thugs revealed fully automatic weapons from their bags, they were pointed at the new group of friends, who were forced to comply unwillingly to the crook’s demands. Separated from one another, Colt and Oscar managed to evade the encounter. Zachary, Aaron, and Decker were restrained and robbed of all their belongings. Forced to remain quiet, and beaten to the edge of consciousness if they spoke, the three were held in the shell of their prospective home. The three exchanged looks, for that was the only way to communicate, and from then on they knew that the city was not as safe as promised.

THE ORIGIN: FROM THE ASHES [PART TWO]

As the crew began to get back on their feet, their beliefs became concrete through their own experiences, intertwining both their brotherhood and their ambition.

Zachary Castle continued to have it rough. Caught in the crossfire between PLIKT and Raiders, Zach was shot 3 times in the chest. Barely surviving, he crawled along the streets of Nyheim back to his crew’s new home. He awoke to Decker’s not-so-inviting gaze, for it was him who nursed Zach back to health after discovering his mangled body on their doorstep. Though he held anger for PLIKT for nearly killing him, he still retained his charisma and hoped for a better world, where people did not have to live through the conditions as he previously did.

Aaron McCannon, or “Ash” as the boys called him, had a large hand in the construction of the place him and his new friends called home. Having the natural skill of carpentry, Ash oversaw the location, maintenance, and development of this new sanctuary. Still hardened by the city atmosphere he had grown accustomed to, he still believed that he could have a hand in improving it for the future of Nyheim’s residents.

Colt Lancaster didn’t spend much time in the city. Instead, he traveled the wilderness like he did before he met his new comrades. It was among the trees and wilderness where Colt perfected his perception and hearing naturally as he hunted for food. The city-life still confused him, but his survivalist skills translated well, allowing him to learn much about the ongoings of the city in a short amount of time. Colt took pride in informing his comrades with all they needed to know to survive and thrive among the city.

Oscar Gulsvig never let go of his tenacity. As he witnessed, experienced, and heard of the atrocities of the city, he was quick to spread the word and encourage people to step up to the plate and bring change within the walls. If anyone was in trouble or needed help, Oscar was always there to provide backup for those in need. He knew that change was coming, and he intended on being there to help.

Decker had become quite attached to his newfound group of friends. So much so, it awoke something inside of him. After being harassed and robbed alongside his friends, he believed that he could be the force that could protect others from the wrath he experienced in his past. To do so, he began working as a security guard for hire. In his experience, passersby witnessed his persistence and quiet demeanor. In mockery, a group of city goers nicknamed him “Shadowhawk”. Decker now uses this alias as he works to inspire people of the city to take up arms and defend the defenseless.

Five misfits, five different backgrounds, one common goal. The five would become the pillars of a movement to make the city of Nyheim a better place for everyone.

Zachary Castle would put his optimism and charisma to good use as Phoenix United’s Head of Diplomacy, extending his hand to all who wish to cooperate.

Oscar Gulsvig will practice his virtues of brotherhood to recruit more city goers to Phoenix United’s cause as the Head of Procurement.

Aaron “Ash” McCannon will continue his skills of carpentry and management and act as Phoenix United’s Head of Logistics.

Decker “Shadowhawk” Grove seeks to protect those in need, and will stop at nothing to provide safety as Phoenix United’s Head of Operations

Colt Lancaster will continue to put his skills to good use as Phoenix United’s Head of Intelligence.

A FLAME, BORN ANEW

As the group became all too familiar with the instability of the city they wondered: where was PLIKT? Their regulations had obviously not prevented such disarray, and PLIKT had provided no aid to its vulnerable citizens like they once promised. As the crew shared their discontent among themselves for PLIKT, the puzzle began to piece itself together.

The city has become the birthplace of a ruinous cycle. As the people grow insecure, they blame PLIKT. As they blame PLIKT, violence and disorder follows, weakening both PLIKT and those who choose to stand against them. As both sides begin to suffer, the cycle continues, straying us further and further away from salvation.

It was this epiphany that led this new group of friends to realizing the true path to unity, safety, and humanity. In this world, we are all survivors, all trying to forge a world that we can thrive in. In desperate times such as these, we must do all that we can to help each other, and march towards salvation hand in hand.

The ashes of our past churn with the promise of a new beacon of hope. This beacon shall be lit with the spirit of our people, and will birth a flame that burns too hot to be smothered.

And this beacon shall lift us to salvation. On ashen wings.

INFRASTRUCTURE

Phoenix United seeks to provide a platform for the citizens of Nyheim to express their voice. Within Phoenix United, members will participate in The People’s Congress to discuss their concerns about the current ongoings of the city and represent the ambitions of the population. Phoenix United will fight to keep the people of the city safe, and extend protection to the far west side of the city. The Flock (Phoenix United’s security personnel), will patrol the west side of the city and ensure that citizens have the resources and protection they need to thrive during their time in Nyheim. As The People’s Congress and The Flock serve to provide change and security within the walls, Phoenix United’s Consulate Corp will work to establish positive relationships with the factions of Nyheim, including PLIKT, to ensure that Nyheim’s future will burn bright.

Listed below, you can find Phoenix United’s take on the known current ongoings of Nyheim:

PLIKT

Spoiler

PLIKT has created a legacy of bloodshed and failure. Since PLIKT’s reign arrived, oppression and disregard for the safety of the people have thrived, as witnessed by the men and women who lived through events such as the Bloody Christmas. However, recent efforts such as the food and medical drives have suggested that PLIKT has begun to take the correct steps towards providing a safer home for the people of Nyheim. Phoenix United intends on establishing diplomatic relations with PLIKT in order to ensure the continued support of the people, and to enact limitations on PLIKT’s oppressive policies. Phoenix United will not tolerate further encroachment on the free people of Nyheim, and will not stop at anything to dissuade PLIKT from continuing such behavior under any circumstances.

THE RAIDERS

Spoiler

Phoenix United is aware of repeated attacks on PLIKT and the city’s walls. From what they know, a group known as the RAIDERS have conducted repeated and targeted attacks on PLIKT. Phoenix United vehemently rejects the means of mere violence to enact positive change. If these Raiders truly care about the people of the city and wish to make real change, Phoenix United believes they will halt their repeated attacks and rely on more diplomatic means. Phoenix United intends on forging diplomatic relations with the Raiders to better understand their motives and dissuade them from putting lives at risk.

THE COLLECTORS

Spoiler

Phoenix United leadership knows little about the inner workings of the Collectors. However, Phoenix United Leadership has encountered the collectors on a few occasions and believes they are good hearted. Phoenix United intends on creating diplomatic relations with the Collectors if their message is consistent with their offerings of charity.

THE PEOPLE OF NYHEIM

Spoiler

Phoenix United considers themselves servants of the people of the city. Phoenix United will stop at nothing to provide food, water, supplies, and protection to those in need. Phoenix United will hold charity events and food drives periodically to ensure that the population of the city thrives. Phoenix United will also patrol the streets of Nyheim to ensure that the people are safe during their day to day proceedings.

OTHER UNKNOWN GROUPS

Spoiler

Phoenix United wishes to inform all people of Nyheim, no matter their affiliation, that they are here to help. Phoenix United intends on expanding their social network to include all peoples and groups of Nyheim, and will outreach diplomatically to develop mutually assured safety. Phoenix United will continue to provide aid to all in need, regardless of any external relationships between factions.

Looks like the lore could definitely still use some fleshing out.

But good luck! Art looks very nice and the goals will be interesting to see how it all unfolds.

I fail to understand why you are against PLIKT? From what I've seen they have done nothing other than hand out medical aid and food to EVERYONE who is willing to own an ID. You also make PLIKT out to be very evil but no evidence in your lore backs it up. Also what makes you believe PLIKT is corrupt? I just do not understand where a group like this gets its foundation when since the server has went live PLIKT have done nothing other than defend themselves from relentless attacks and hand out free food and medical supplies.

I like this, this is a good goal that has a lot of potential if you want to do a group like this my advice would be more goals like this one. Work with PLIKT to make the city better rather than against, its a boring concept at this point. Unless of course you have legitimate reasoning to go against PLIKT IC and if that is the case my advice would be put ACTUAL facts from in-game situations in your lore.

TLDR of my concerns right now it looks like a "I'm gonna jump on the band wagon and go against PLIKT" group. Most of your goals are undetermined or ongoing, you need smart goals so try and work out some defined dates moving forward. If I'm wrong feel free to correct me.

We will definitely be fleshing it out a lot more when we can all brain storm it but if you want the IRP reasoning now (Which will be present sooner or later) it's because the prior lore for the unrest and some street protests that turned violent and our look on it points plict as the main contributor to starting them. Plus some of the laws, IDs, and some casual taking people off the street for interrogation and other things that have happened to people irp to point towards PLICT being bad and most possibly tyrannical. (Don't worry about this being a group that just launches attacks and the likes, we're gonna try our hardest to deliver something to the government faction that can be enjoyed by ourselves, plict RPers, and the general mass of people. Protests and demands before bombs and firefights.)

I'll look forward to reading the fleshed out lore, this is just the vibe my first read has given me. Don't take it to heart I'm not trying to be a dick or anything just giving honest feedback. I'll look forward to the additions but reading what you've stated above its still kinda iffy considering all the good PLIKT also do.

Absolutely, thanks for the feedback. We intend on extending this page to its fullest soon, and like Whiskey said, we are looking forward to a more civil rights kind of resistance instead of just a crew of troublemakers.

Stay tuned!

Thanks for the constructive criticism, each of the founding members have their own IC reasons. Mine for example is I got shot in the chest walking down the street unarmed by a member of PLIKT and left to die (its a miracle I didn't) when what I can only assume is there was some kind of situation I was not aware of or involved in. Also I have witnessed with my own eyes people getting roughed up just for expressing their opinion to members of PLIKT. I was also robbed inside the walls of the city by groups of people with automatics whom PLIKT should be protecting us from, and if they aren't capable of doing it themselves then people should have the right to carry the proper weapons to adequately protect themselves. Other people have their reasons but as you can see my title is "Head of Diplomacy" because I do truly wish to work alongside PLIKT as long as they are willing to compromise for the sake of the people.

That's just my perspective, hope you understand.

I'm gonna go ahead and echo Rickets on this one. I feel like you need to flesh out your lore a bit more. Being anti-PLIKT for the sake of being anti-PLIKT with vague reasoning makes little sense. You mention the founding members have their reasons in subsequent posts. Flesh the lore out to reflect that. Reflect the impact the stories from the founders have on the members. I'd like to see a little bit more from your goals as well. For right now, they're a little bland. Can you revise to perhaps offer some more long term, or otherwise enticing goals that offer a bit of variety from what we would usually see?

You're welcome to reach out to myself or any of the LMs if you feel you need some assistance.

Correct me if im wrong, but are you guys the people who claim to be rebels or whatever but have never been in the street and directly shot at the PLIKT? Had a guy with some cowboy hat and chedaki camo come to scrap town and be some self proclaimed revolutionist but he got swiftly put in his place by me, if so then im just gonna give a fat massive no just due to the simple fact that you make fun of peoples stutters.

Not us at all. If I'm correct those huts they are in are southeast Nyheim, and we RP mostly in the city. The behavior you mention is off putting, and I hope that such behavior doesn't go unpunished. Our main interactions have been on the west side of the city, and we have yet to get into conflict with anyone outside the city.

We plan on assembling soon. We've yet to all assemble together and talk about this in an OOC session, let alone a sophisticated IC session. This is very much a draft, and we really appreciate your early feedback!

I have been crossing my fingers in the hope someone starts a group like this. It is desperately needed, imo.

I do think the most interesting group dynamic would be as one of the few groups that like/support/appreciate PLIKT. To be the group working "within the system" to bring about change unlike all the radicals outside the fence. "PLIKT provides for us. PLIKT protects us. But certain policies MUST change. We need to work within the allowed/appropriate channels to bring about that change."

I think it would provide the impetus for interesting intergroup RP. Your group could be viewed with contempt for supporting PLIKT or for relying on PLIKT rather than being self sufficient. Or pitied your for being willing subjects rather than freemen. And your group, of course, could have similarly dim views of the "troublemakers, terrorists, anarchists and wilderfolk" on the other side of the wall.

Whatever way you decide to play it, your group stands to fill a huge void.

Looks great imo. Can't wait to see what else you guys come up with. I agree with the above, filling the void (that is even mentioned in the lore) is just as important as the lore group itself to continue progressing RP and PLIKT's expected demise. It'll be interesting what happens to the group with it's decisions and whatever the outcome may be I'm sure will be great RP.

Everyone in the city Ive come across is a "revolutionist" and rebel against PLIKT. Ive seen notes all over the city, Ive had atleast 20 people come up to me to talk about it. I don't think its just one group.

UPDATE:

Just did a massive overhaul of the forum post. Added more details and altered the goals slightly. More fleshed out lore of the characters and the inspiration for the group.

Feedback is welcomed. Let us know what you think.

^- @-Whiskey- when he realised he had just stepped into the camp of those who took him hostage a few hours prior.

Goodmorning boys, feedback time.

I'll be honest, in the start I wasn't quite getting what your group was going for, or how you'd go about doing it.
And while I didn't take much part in your re-work but one of my fellow Co-LMs did, I still felt kinda puzzled.

BUT

Through RP,  you've showed me exactly what you were going for, and I get it now. I applaud you boys for being able to accurately be able to explain and show what your concept for the group is via IC means, and as "standard" as that should be, can be very hard due to multiple factors whether it be outside factors making it that you're unable to accurately portray it, or internally. So I applaud you fellas for being able to stick to your concept and roll with the punches, and adapt to the situation at hand.

I also applaud you for the fact that even though you went through 3 different hostage situations, 1 shared between us and Scrappers, 1 with Scrappers, and 1 with us again. Many would start to get annoyed, irritated, and maybe outright just give up as has been seen in the past in certain cases - ya'll rolled with the punches and are in the process of adapting to these new IC circumstances (which I will not elaborate on), instead of just outright giving up. That is a very hard thing to do for many people, and therefore you also get my applause. During the entire day, I did not get a hint of snide, OOC remarks, or anything that could be taken as you having an outright shitty time and not bothering to do the RP. Was just pure RP despite the fact you were being thrown left and right throughout the entire day.

Keep doing what you're doing, @Duke signing out.

I forgot to directly respond to this here, but simply put a major thanks! RPing then with getting told to put our hands up to talking, to raiders, to stumbling on a woodland village to further roleplay happenings. Yall have been some great people to rp with and I think this has to be the BEST I have ever experienced (With some almost-heart attacks in there) even more than any other server or any other interaction. It's really made my whole week, thanks again, rolling with the punches has been enjoyable.

I also hope that our group is able to give you all some continued moments of roleplay, and with that too I hope we are able as a group to shift some dynamics and give everyone 'round a enjoyable experience for the community.

I like the changes and the shift in tone from just blind hatred of PLIKT to noticing the flaws PLIKT has, and wanting to potentially bridge the divide to correct their wrongs. A voice for the people to establish some Civilian to Gov RP is needed. I hope all goes smooth and you stick to your goals 🙂
