Jakov
The time of building interaction is increased compared to vanilla on DayZRP, and I feel it's too long, and it is increased ineffectively. I don't know the reasons behind that increase, but I feel like it's to give both an incentive not to build huge base, and also to have a realistic time spent building a base, and I'm fine with both. My issue arise for two reasons: - There is already a strong incentive not to build bases, caused by both Offline raiding and the scarcity of nails. Indeed, no matter how long or how big you build a base, offline raiding render it pointless, because people will always be able to break in, no matter how many walls you put up. Also, the low spawning rate of nails make them nearly only accessible through trading, which require both important looting to earn money, as well as a long travel to actually get to the trader selling nails. Therefore, I feel like increased building time is unnecessary. - It's not fun. I get that building time should be slightly increased from Vanilla: building a wooden castle under an hour is unrealistic. But it's boring to hold your left mouse button during one minute to achieve one step out of four to build an entire wall. The issue is not really the time spent, but the way it's spent. You already spend countless hours just running around putting little input, especially due to autowalk. It's the same with building, except you don't even do anything appart holding a button for minutes. No actions, no scenery, just a bland progression bar. Also, my biggest complaints regarding this increase is the fact it affects the construction lamps; spending one minutes deploying one construction lamp is irrealistic, rendered even more tedious due to the fact that you can struggle placing one correctly, resulting in way too much time spent placing it correctly. In conclusion, I feel like there is already two strong incentives not to build, and increased building time is a poor mechanics. I'm not against making harder building stuff compared to Vanilla DayZ, but it should be made in an active and interesting way, not just "Hold longer"; boredom is not a good gameplay mechanic. Event Master Cor Posted April 16, 2021 Event Master Share Posted April 16, 2021 In my opinion, less time building means more time RPing. Obviously that's not saying you need to build to RP, but for those who do build, for example a group who needs to keep a place fortified, the less time they spend holding down their left mouse button to do an animation for however long, then the more time they can spend making interesting RP. Big +1 from me Link to comment
Sapphire Ghosty Posted April 16, 2021 Sapphire Share Posted April 16, 2021 I think another reason why it might be long, is to prevent someone from building during a gun fight. Imagine blowing a door down, only to find out someone built it back up in less than a minute. But I do agree both times should be decreased. I'm planning on doing some very light building soon and I want to rp more than build. Link to comment
Emerald Nudey Posted April 19, 2021 Emerald Share Posted April 19, 2021 I would love to have building time reduce however I find it would easily be abused during a firefight if it was too quick. I agree building does take a while and I have usually been one to miss out on RP events because I am back at base building. @Cor the amount of times back in pusta I would rebuild blown up walls 2 Link to comment

If it was that fast it would be ridiculous. Just closer to vanilla I would expect... 1 Link to comment
Jakov
I thought about the possibility of building during a gunfight, but it would require you to carry planks, hammers, wall kit, nails... Which all weigh a lot, which would greatly reduce your chance of winning a firefight. But I'm not a PvP player, so I can't vouch 100% to that. Link to comment

If you pvp with a backpack full of shit you will lose 9/10 times. Stamina and weight are very helpful when fighting also a more slim low profile when W keying and spam leaning around. Link to comment
