An Empty Harbor, Revitalized

Like the overwhelming majority of buildings abandoned after the outbreak, the warehouses on the Solnichniy docks stood empty and forgotten by whatever company or companies once owned and operated them. These rusting hulks were given a second chance at life when El Familia returned from their evacuation during the winter months and settled in the port town, using the long neglected buildings as part office space, part warehousing for goods destined for donation centers, and part home away from home for Family members. Now, after a repeated string of attacks against the building and those who work and live there, El Familia has begun a long list of chores and tasks to make their warehouse safer not just for themselves, but for those who come to visit the newly opened on-site donation center.

Here’s a video showing off the grounds around the building, as well as the warehouse itself. The majority of the item count has been dedicated to building the walls, ceilings, and other infrastructure inside the main building.

 

Here is a video focusing on the main gate, showing that you can easily fit any current vehicle (we weren’t able to test with a Vodnik) through, and that it slides sideways and does not swing out near the highway. In addition to the main gate, nearly the entire northern side of the compound is open, and there are numerous breaks in the wall with which you could fit a vehicle. 

Warehouse Grounds

Awnings have been added near the south side walls to help expand our farms, which were grown inside during the winter, and beside the warehouse after the spring thaw. Heavy equipment has been -borrowed- stolen from sites around the Oblast in order to move some of the larger, heavier items used in the improvement projects and parked past the garage’s junk pile. The docks have been improved with a wooden boathouse, and scaffolding erected alongside the warehouse itself.

Inside The Warehouse

The inside of the main warehouse is broken up in two large parts: the northern side is an open on-site donation center which will be open to the public …

 

... and the southern locked side will function as offices, storage, the kitchen and shower (which have existed in their current form for some time now) and social area.

 

 

The majority of the item count as used up forming the walls, dividers, and shelving to keep on-theme. Roland gave the thumbs-up to go slightly over the usual count, at 112 items, to the very talented Kalyri, who put the file together for us.

 

As the building is a warehouse, and not a fortification, it was intentionally designed to have securely flaws and we are aware that that some security measures could easily be circumvented. If the prefab does get approved, could we be given a bit of warning so that we have time to remove our current storage and decorations? It would be greatly appreciated.
