Season Three - Directive Zero

Well it's here.

However, before we get into the details of the season I've been asked to write an apology, as well as an explanation of what happened to Season 3.
First off - I personally do not know what happened to season 3, nor what season 3 was supposed to entail as that is way prior to me joining as an LM, what I have been told however is that due to the lack of coordination of the prior teams after @Stagsview and his fellow team left, it was up in the air for what the server was going to do moving forward.
And some lore created by the first LM team of this lorewipe was outright forgotten or thrown out the window.
Now as you can see we're only two LMs, me & @Pepsi, as well as @Hofer taking a hands on approach as "Head LM". One of the requirements for me joining as an LM was to get everything "back on track" and take the events and lore that has been highly centered around single individuals played by LMs into a more public domain, allowing YOU players to make the choices for how it'll ultimately end.
Whilst you'll be provided with the lore, and the events, the choices which you make during those events can from this point on have a very lasting consequence that'll be shown from a gameplay perspective in the very near future.
 

So to sum up the above:
* Season 3 failed due to lack of coordination and direction from the Admin team towards the prior LM teams.
* The Admin team apologises for the lack of it.
* Lore events can now leave lasting consequences that WILL not only affect your gameplay, but also your character. The choice is yours.
* The restrictions on the volunteers and staff side has been lessened, such as losing fights purposefully. If you choose to fight you will be fought back and may die. High risk high reward.
* LMs will no longer main any lore characters as it has been proven to be ineffective and take away from the player experience.

A quick note:
Without beating around the bush, the event yesterday turned into quite a shitstorm, I don't think I've seen so many random people being killed left right and center.
The choice was yours to attack, which a group decided to kickstart it all, turning it into a big warzone and releasing some of the "mist".
What the idea of that event was for only around 10-15 people to show up, but as a last minute changed happened that was out of my control, it was broadcast to the entire server in all shapes and forms, causing everyone to log on (which is great), but left us with far more people for that type of designed event than what we could feasibly handle.
So whilst the choice was yours, it was also the last minute changes that caused the chaos, and it will not repeat.
Had I known so many people were to attend, the event would've been designed very differently. And we'll keep that in mind moving forward.

As for season 3, one issue there's always been is that too much information has been shared from the get-go, so to keep things interesting and also give you people something to work towards, you will only be provided the bare essentials to get you started within this thread.

Anyway, on to the fun stuff!

Season 3: Directive Zero.

Summary:
The first sign of the word "Directive Zero" was heard across all radio frequencies and loudspeakers around the major cities on the 22th of March 2021.
The message is the following:

This is an automated emergency broadcast. This message was created by the Russian Federation in the event it should fall. All government organizations are no longer functioning due to an unexpected event. All civilians will now be their own. All military personal is encouraged to proceed to directive zero. Moscow has fallen. The world has fallen.

A helicopter crashed outside of Novaya where men dressed in black NBC suits and gas masks was shown to be hauling small plastic containers from the wreckage into their trucks.
As a leak occured due to the chaos caused by the inhabitants, a yellow mist sprung up into the air surrounding the wreckage, turning the situation even more chaotic.
Those who were present will be able to feel the effects of the symptoms lined out underneath.
As the fighting started, a few men in NBC managed to slip away with most of the containers, however one of the UAZs were recovered by REDACTED and a light examination happened to the container.
Meanwhile Cordis Aido struggled to deal with all those who had been exposed to the mist, and was quarantining the patients.

Those who have examined these containers and dealt with the symptoms have already been told and given an explanation of what they can find out at first glance.
Anyone who may be in possession of a container or have test subjects who have been exposed may PM me at any point for clarification and research RP.

Symptoms of exposure

Light exposure:
* Deep red skin, as if having been burned.
* Blisters mildly starting to form around the skin that was exposed.
* If no mask - Breathing issues for a couple of days.

Medium exposure:
* Skin starts to peel off, and a constant burning sensation runs through you as it spreads from the initial point of exposure to the rest of the body unless stopped.
* Large blisters forms and encourages deep scratching.
* If no mask - Heavy respiratory issues, will most likely be bedridden and need assistance in breathing.

Prolonged exposure:
* Same as above.
* Cognitive and mental functions deteriorating.
* Tumors starting to form on your organs.
* Death.

REDACTED is to keep the anonymity of the group which took it. Find out IC.
I believe that is all the info you have as of now, events will show more as time goes by.

Roland-senpai addendum, here is what you can expect OOC from this new season:

• New mod ToxicZone with gas areas on the map created by in game events
• Rebalanced loot table for high end gear after their trader removal
• Increased number of helicopters on the map

Not hyped for the current "season" unless I start seeing those mentioned changes IG first. Every season so far has been so hyped to be some cool game changing thing and every single one has underdelivered massively to a point where I even forgot there were seasons to begin with. Of course I wish you all luck with setting up the events and hope the mentioned changes will actually take effect and I will participate as much as I can to see "Directive Zero" with my own eyes.

I'd take a look at the last event, "Massive Lore Event in game", and try and learn from it. I personally disliked it as it felt it had little to no planning behind. Even with the amount of people present , the event team seemed quite lost in what to do and as a participant it just looked like things were done on the fly. The fact that some people showed up to the event like it was a rebranding of the Livonia Battle Royal also didn't help at all although that is probably nothing you could have controlled. I just hope that the next events are no way near what the "Massive Lore Event in game" was, present some more planning and people treat it seriously.

I for one liked the event, even though I never really understood what was going on! But chaos should be the order of things in an apocalyptic setting, so I really enjoyed not knowing. Also, I am new to this, and this beats playing on a reglar server many times over. Thank you all!

Well, I wish I could be there, but thx to CLF, i'm currently in bed recovering from several gunshots.
Also, something I heard from some friends I got shot in the head, so if you say "Execution rights" and not "PK," then fucking don't shoot me in the head and say, "He is dead now" When I can not hear. I will ignore the fact I was shot in the head. After all, no one will survive that, and I'm not ready to PK Chameleon yet.
But maybe I can join in at a later date. I at least hope I can.

Yikes is it necessary to put the former lm team on blast? I recall a lot of work being put in by at least one individual from the former team and this seems like a shitty way of "apologizing" but more so putting them on blast.

The announcement literally says that it failed due to lack of coordination and direction. Coordination and direction comes from the LM team leader, in other words the Admin team.

"The inefficiency" of the prior team part is what im referring too not just the lack of coordination. It reads as if you called the LMs after Staggs inefficient. In no way does this read " the leadership aka the admin team " messed up. It reads as if the blame was all on those on the team prior.

I noticed that too. The blaming of  the old loremasters who volunteered their time didn't sit well with me.

@Duke I love the idea of this mist/gas, I've got a background in medicine and in dealing with a variety of different chemical/toxic reactions caused by gaseous chemicals, as well as breaking down and summarizing exactly what parts of the body and brain it would interact with based on the symptoms that you guys enforce for exposed characters. Shoot me a DM if you guys want a decent scientifically, and chemically plausible exposition on exactly how the gas interacts with the body and the brain, this can be offered information for you guys to selectively give characters who have a background suited to looking into this chemical and making the proper inferences.
 

Really excited for Season 3, first season that I'll be around for the launch for =D

 

If the previous lore leads entirely scrapped season 3 and left the current lore team to basically have to start from scratch, they're due criticism, that was honestly very light criticism.

 

A team or person can do a generally good job as a whole, that doesn't mean they should be immortalized and their shortcomings not also highlighted imo, and this seems like the shortcoming of whomever was heading/leading the lore team last time

Criticism in the right form. You are correct its the shortcoming of the heading/leading of the lore team which is done by the admin team. However, even evident by your post, thats not how this "apology to the community" reads. 

It reads as if the people who were LMs after staggs were the issue and the blame is being diverted to them when in fact the blame rests on the admin team. 
 

Im just baffled that a post of such is even still up or even posted at all. You force a new LM to apologize for the mistakes of the admin team in the form of blaming the other LMs. Its not a sincere apology for the failure of season 3. A sincere apology would be taking full responsibility not blaming those under you and insulting them.

There was nothing to scrap.  No plans or lore were forgotten or pushed aside.  There was no big long planned out timeline given to the LM team to follow after the original three LMs of this lorewipe left the team.  I can take criticism, this was not criticism.

The blatant insults in the OP were unwarranted and regardless of how it was meant, it was unprofessional.  And I'm only going to speak from my perspective, because I don't know the minds of my fellow former Loremasters.  I gave up my free time to provide lore for the server and when I was burned out, made to feel like every effort I made, past and present, was for nothing.  As with all staff members, if someone had come to me ahead of time and aired their grievances in a respectful manner, I'm sure something could have been done, and whatever stress the current Lore Team may or may not be feeling could have been negated.

 

Regardless of my feelings towards the situation, I wish you luck with the latest lore event @Pepsi and @Duke.  I wasn't there yesterday, but as has been stated, you'll learn from mistakes made and that's all any person can really ask for.  While this isn't really something I am personally interested in, maybe I'll participate at a future date and see how it goes.

Whilst i myself am not crazy on the gas idea and such as i feel it can be more restrictive in the end  than it is promoting rp, Because all it would take is a few hit or misses from the LM team and it could end up being a lot of the map is covered in this 'gas' and people cant really just navigate their own story without the risk of being pk'd due to it.

 

That said, Regardless of my own personal beliefs with this, i have the trust in the team that are behind it, and know for a fact they're working hard to get something going that we all can enjoy, and from a creative stand point you cant please all people, all the time.

 

I am firmly behind the 'choose your own adventure' style that this seems to be implementing, so props to that.

I do have some concerns, but im excited to see where it plays out!
