MVP cas Posted September 27, 2020 MVP Share Posted September 27, 2020 (edited) If someone is providing obvious troll RP, can we just be allowed to do everyone involved a favour and shoot them to stop them from ruining the server / role play? I've seen at least one or two instances in the past where people have gotten away with these kinds of kills, but have always hesitated myself due to obviously not wanting to be hit with an RDM ban. Obviously I'm all for putting RP first and would only kill someone as a last resort, but if someone is just straight trolling I feel like you're just doing everyone involved a favour at that point. Diamond Combine Posted September 27, 2020 Diamond Share Posted September 27, 2020 Wouldn't it suffice to quick initiate on them? Warn them and if they persist and obviously then "Not comply" (to stop), you can shoot them. 2 Link to comment
MVP Duke Posted September 27, 2020 MVP Share Posted September 27, 2020 I don't think breaking a rule to end a rulebreaker is the way to go. Us GMs are always ready to jump into any Discord / Stream / In-game and you can always ask if we have time to jump in-game to witness it ourselves. If we get there in time or you have recorded an obvious troll we are in most cases able to handle it on the spot. (Depending on the type of rulebreak) Simply DM a Gamemaster+ next time you experience such a thing. 1 Link to comment
MVP Banshee Posted September 27, 2020 MVP Share Posted September 27, 2020 The problem I see with this is that if the 'troll' has any friends in the area, then they might see you shooting their friend as an invalid-kill or a hostile action and use their defender-rights to retaliate - creating a cluster-fuck of a fire-fight that could turn the suspected trolling situation into a much bigger situation. It's probably best to call onto a gamemaster to spectate the situation and have them deal with it accordingly. Link to comment
Guest Generic Name
Honestly I'd just do it and take the ban with a smile of satisfaction and accomplishment knowing that I took one for the team. Link to comment

I remember someone doing that and they were pardoned and the troll was punished. Link to comment
Guest
I am on the side that breaking a rule to counter another rule break shouldn't be promoted. Want to kill him? Initiate and take him on a torture and execution. If not, report, or try to get an Admin to review the situation and tactical nuke the lad/lass. Link to comment
Legend Para Posted September 27, 2020 Legend Share Posted September 27, 2020 Absolutely not. DM a GM+ and have them watch the situation. If it's that bad and needs dealing with urgently, and the reports of it are accurate, they'll get yeeted. As is, the subjective viewpoint of "he's trolling IMO" leaves this way too open ended. Sorry Cas, but i vehemently disagree with this idea. 3 Link to comment
Legend Inferno Posted September 27, 2020 Legend Share Posted September 27, 2020 Unless you want to get hit for an Invalid Kill then I wouldn't really advise blasting a troll even if it's completely obvious. Like others say above me, DM a GM+ and just ignore the individual, let staff deal with the person while they still act trollish and they'll get what's coming to them. Link to comment
Legend Peril Posted September 27, 2020 Legend Share Posted September 27, 2020 Yeah, that's a hard no. While it may be obvious in some cases, it is not up to the community to determine rulebreaks and issue punishments. Vigilante justice isn't something I want to see; I can already imagine the train of "BUT I THOUGHT HE WAS TROLLING!" used as a defense to kill someone, not to mention the firefights shooting someone trolling in a group could cause. Record and report or call a GM+ in to take care of it. Link to comment
Legend Jamie Posted September 27, 2020 Legend Share Posted September 27, 2020 Mate, from previous experience if someone is screaming dayzrp is for nerds, shoot him in the head. If you ask the staff team straight up, they'll say no. But in cases like that, I'd do it easy. Link to comment
Diamond Squillium Posted September 27, 2020 Diamond Share Posted September 27, 2020 Idk why it’s a big deal. Protocol should be if the person trolling gets killed and reports, which if they’re not an idiot they wouldn’t, you should have video evidence of them being an idiot. Then if it was blatant enough the person trolling should be the only one punished and everyone moves on with their life. Link to comment
Diamond Eagle Posted September 27, 2020 Diamond Share Posted September 27, 2020 Unless they are going OOC in voip to ruin your day no, what you can consider trolling others might not and thus it creates a weird loophole that allows people to straight up shoot someone because you felt it was trolling. MVP Ron Posted September 27, 2020 MVP Share Posted September 27, 2020 Pretty easy answer to this, imo. Just because someone breaks the rules doesn't mean you are allowed to. Leave and deal with it in the report section after you logged out. Link to comment

Before you close, I recall somebody walking up and saying "whats up roleplayers" and getting KOSed, the guy who said it got banned. So... depends? Depends on if it's some OOC bullshit 1 Link to comment
