Make Duct Tape great again !

Hello there everyone !

 

As you all may know, the great evil we call Bohemia, decided that with the last patch they make duct tape not usable to fix on guns anymore. This is part of the greater schemes of things where Bohemia is slowly taking away all the things the glorious roll of duct tape can do.

I come here today, in front of you, of the developers and any lover of duct tape to take the fight back and revert this thing !

As you can see, Flex... ehhh... I mean the glorious duct tape is fit to repair anything and it should remain the universal object that can repair whatever you need to repair !

I'm gonna have to -1 this suggestion. 

As a balancing factor, guns should be more difficult to repair as their effectiveness is apparent to all. As a side note, only vanilla guns cannot be repaired with Duct Tape, all modded ones still can.

-1 from me despite the great presentation. Gun cleaning kits are plentiful and almost as common as duct tape if you look in the right places

+1 from me, it seems to me that guns break easier and I haven't found any gun cleaning kit in Chernogorsk but lots of tape! Make this happen!

+1 Realistic , a weapon cleaning kit doesn't fix cracks or breaks in a gun, a bit of tape on the right places does tho.

Personally I don’t mind the duct tape change, it gives value to an item most people just glanced over when they saw it in a loot spawn point. Maybe it’s just me but I’ve seen a small increase in how much duct tape I find on infected or even just around towns.

-1, gun cleaning kits are very plentiful and it's nice they have a dedicated use now. I would go so far as to suggest that modded weapons should be made to comply with the official change.

i literally havent seen a single gun cleaning kit, ive been looking for one for about 2 weeks, I haven't found a single one only been given a half used one by someone before.

-1. If I’m not mistaken, duct tape cant fix the grime and dirt in your gun, which is the major source of malfunction usually.

Agreed, duct tape is fine the way it is, gun cleaning kits are just being hoarded and also hard to find. Also, Robbie is not 15, he's 16 and has aged every year on his birthday February 12th lol!

Unfortunately, I can't get behind this idea. I'd like to see all of the specific-type repair kits become more useful and valuable to be honest. Right now there's little reason to carry anything other than two rolls of duct tape and a gun cleaning kit. Sewing kits, leather sewing kits, and sharpening stones should get some love (maybe have them have more usage/take less to use to repair), but I'm not suggesting that duct tape get nerfed.

Duct tape being a panacea for literally every damaged item is a wonderful convenience, but it totally defeats the purpose of every other specialized repair item.

Weapon cleaning kits serve the same purpose and I believe you should need to carry one if you want to operate a maintain a gun.
