Sapphire groovy vnp Posted June 24, 2020 Sapphire Share Posted June 24, 2020 (edited) edit: I am dumb title is meant to be: Ruleplay Question Regarding Kill Rights Hello, VNP here with a question for staff. Hypothetical situation is as follows; I, alone, come across a stopped car with two players in it. I decide to initiate on them. They both decide to comply. I have one leave the vehicle and force him to tie himself up using a rope I place on the ground. While doing this I tell the other player in the car: "If you try to escape with the car I will kill your friend." while securing the player who left the car, the player in the car decides to jump into the driver seat and speeds off before I can stop him. Can I shoot the hostage? (yes/no) If the answer is no, can I report the individual who drove away in the car for ruleplay, as he knows I cannot execute the hostage due to invalid kill rights? This hypothetical assumes the two individuals are not in a CP, as I believe I would be able to kill the hostage in such a situation. Edited June 24, 2020 by groovy vnp I am dumb 2 Link to comment

Hello @groovy vnp, In this situation, assuming that the two players are not in a group as you stated, you are not allowed to kill the man left behind. You've initiated on both of them, but because they have no ties to each other what-so-ever in terms of shared rights, you can't punish one for the actions of the other. If he is a complying hostage, he is a complying hostage, and the only ways you can kill him is if he gives you a reason under 4.6. As the player is not in an approved group, he can't have allies and therefor can't be executed for things he himself didn't do. As for ruleplay, it'd be... quite a stretch to try and swing Ruleplay. For all you know the person escaping fully expects (ICly) for you to kill his friend and doesn't care. The intention of the person fleeing would play a major role in determining if it is ruleplay or not, but I'd be inclined to say in most cases you'd have a hard time pinning ruleplay to it. 4 Link to comment
