Lost With The Lore

So, my character did not fit the lore. I'm not sure what to do? As far as I know, a PMC operative working in Chernarus before the outbreak is a sound option. Any advice as to why this is not accepted? Thanks, Wolf

Here's my character back story...

Dom Served in the UK Armed Forces for more than 20 years. He engaged in conflicts both in the Middle East and Afghanistan. While station in Kabul, he ranked up to Sergeant after showing exemplary leadership ability and tactical knowledge while under pressure. On his return home, he joined the UK Special Forces, Taking on classified ops around the globe. While on an overseas training exercise, Dom was involved in a fatal helicopter crash where he was the only survivor. Injured, with no supplies, he lived off the land for more than 30 days in the harsh environment armed with only a knife and his hardened survival knowledge. In this time he was attacked by a group of hungry Wolves, in which he lost his Right Eye. He managed to Kill the Alpha Wolf in the struggle, earn the respect of the pack and the nickname "The One-Eyed Wolf" from his peers. He was rescued not long after and came home with a Wolf Pup named "Ghost" That he befriended and trained himself. Once he had recovered at home with his wife and young Son, Dom joined a Private Military contractor as the money was good. Just before the outbreak, Dom was posted in Chernarus where he was investigating rumours of a Virus that had been weaponized for sale on the Black-market. Unknown to him at the time, his employer was looking to use the Virus to blackmail the Government. Upon finding out this information, his employer kidnapped his Wife and Young Son as leverage, to keep him searching for this weapon and keeping their plans under wraps. It was around this time that the World fell apart. He now searches for his family, hoping they are still alive. This is his main motivation, to survive long enough to find them, helping the needy along the way and banishing the scum that the world has spat back out. With Ghost at his side, he will stop at nothing!

Hello @Dom Wolf, the Administrators are helping you with your whitelist! You should have their feedback in your application. For further questions about the lore please visit:

But to quickly answer your questions, PMC are often linked to a specific countries. It's even at a point in the real world. (which might not be canon to our lore) that PMC's are heavily frowned to have around, the blackwater incident comes to mind.

And most importantly:

The below quote specifically alone is enough to get you ruled out. It simply doesn't fit the lore around the Frenzied Flu. It would require the loremasters to give you a +1 for that specific thing. Additionally the background does not mesh with the timeline of events and how the world came to learn about the frenzied flu outbreak.

So maybe my character could just be searching for his wife and son without being in a PMC. He could still have the military background?

OK, so what if my character was helping with a state of emergency event? As part of the UN?

United Nations also fall under the "armed forces" of the western world. I would suggest keeping this to your whitelist application!

Cool, thanks. So I was in Chernarus as part of a UN team helping with the state of emergency at the time of the frenzied flu ?

That's the opposite of what I said @Dom Wolf Your character would've been needed in his or hers respective own country to help with the frenzied flu.

What UN team in the Russian Republic Chernarus?

The UN has no reason to be in Chernarus; Chernarus in this lore is a part of the Republic of Russia.

Read the links.

EDIT:: You need to remember the outbreak is only a few days old (Into the 4th). There has been no rapid response so no reason for anyone to have been sent yet. Plus, as is stated in the guides, every country is now dealing with their own problems. This is by design.

OK, so I have to be Russian? Living in Chernarus to be able to roleplay?

When you have finished reading this link, let me know and we can continue the back and forth. You clearly haven't yet.

@Marik OK, so what if my plane crashed on the way back to the UK from an exercise I was on in Russia? At the start of the Frenzied flu?

@RoverThere's so much to read and understand, I'm new to this and require some help. No need to get the arse with me.

Everyone is new to this. Its a lorewipe, its new for the community. Also, Marik is not the one that will be looking over your whitelist, it'll be myself or another Administrator. We are the ones that approve whitelist characters.

How can I get my foreign character in the country/Are the Borders Open?

In each setting, in both Livonia and Chernarus from the get go the eastern world has already fallen. So that would be Russia (Including chernarus), Poland, Livonia, Belarus etc etc. Their borders have already been closed Due to the outbreak seen in 2019 and now the newer one in 2020. From the get go of the lorewipe going live, there is NO border control from this point. HOWEVER it does not make sense currently for western characters coming to the country as they are also dealing with strict no movement laws at this time (Think COVID-19 we are having in the world today).

Does this mean They could have arrived before the outbreak? Yes, they could have been trapped in the country already, but have been trapped already for a decent amount of time due to the outbreak and the infection. Some of you might have stayed from the original outbreak others might have arrived when the borders where reopened. But the borders CLOSE again after signs of the 3rd outbreak. We will allow foreign characters back into the country after a period of time, those traveling around once the world is utterly fucked. HOWEVER at this point it is harder to build these characters.

The trope of 'my plane crashed' is a fairly commonly used meme in our community, and is something we are trying to avoid in the new lore. Please read the link, read the timeline, and come up with a fitting reason for the character to be in Chernarus. It does not make sense you'd be 'on training in Russia' and then land in Chernarus (Also a part of Russia) because transportation ties would be cut and no one would be flying.

@RoverSo my family and I could have been on vacation in Chernarus at the time of the outbreak. I can still have my military background from the British Army. I'm just a tourist.

Yes. That is the most commonly used background for western characters.
Make sure when you write your new background up, you reflect on the timeline (https://www.dayzrp.com/index.php?app=timeline) and use the dates within in your background as a guideline for what you/your family experienced leading up to the outbreak and the time the lore started.

@RoverDue to the loss of my eye in 2010, I retired from the UK armed forces. While on a hunting holiday in chernarus, I met my wife. A citizen of chernarus. We fell in love, married and had a Son.

Just make sure you address important relevant lore events since the time you went to Chernarus in your background. (You can find these in the timeline linked above)

Well to clarify on the last statement, while the Blackwater incident did present a bad image to PMCs, they are still heavily used in the ME and in Africa. The incident hasn't really affected the industry. The only thing with the new lore is the fact that with the Russians pretty much in power it makes little to no sense a Western PMC would be in Chernarus. In Russia it's mostly Russian or Slavic PMCs. In Ukraine though, Blackwater (or whatever name they are now) have been operating on behalf of the Ukrainian government. Not sure if they're still there, but under Obama they were and it was kept mostly hush hush.

I know that the country I'm currently living in has had Dutch Military take over PMC tasks all over the world.

I this a better fit?

Dom Served in the UK Armed Forces from the age of 16 for 16 years. He engaged in conflicts both in the Middle East and Afghanistan. While stationed in Kabul, he ranked up to Sergeant after showing exemplary leadership ability and tactical knowledge while under pressure. On his return home, he joined the UK Special Forces, Taking on classified ops around the globe. While on an overseas training exercise, Dom was involved in a fatal helicopter crash where he was the only survivor. He managed to Kill the Alpha Wolf in the struggle, earn the respect of the pack and the nickname "The One-Eyed Wolf" from his peers. He was rescued not long after and came home with a Wolf Pup named "Ghost" That he befriended and trained himself. Due to the injury, he sustained to his eye, Dom was forced to take retirement from the armed forces. An Army buddy had been discussing the beauty of Chernarus after a hiking holiday he had taken there. To aid his recovery, Wolf decided to get away and headed to Chernarus for some R&R, the year being 2010. While taking some time to enjoy some fishing and hunting in and around Wilow Lake, Blunt Rocks and Black Lake Wolf developed an infection in his eye. On a visit to the nearest healthcare centre in Krasnostav, he met his future wife Sasha. She was a Nurse assisting the Doctor with Wolf's treatment. After a whirlwind few weeks, they decided to get married and Wolf moved in with Sasha, leaving the Western life behind, trading it for a beautiful country and a beautiful Woman. The next few years are quite peaceful for Wolf and Sasha as their love for each other grows. Despite being a family man, Wolf started to miss the military life and in 2013 he was approached by the Lopotev regime and employed as a bounty hunter, searching down and assassinating high profile War Criminals. In 2018 Wolf sees the birth of his Son Ethan, he is the most beautiful thing he has ever seen and this only strengthens his love and bond with his wife Sasha. Just before Ethan's first Birthday, early reports of a virus has started to surface. Wolf, paranoid about his families safety rushes to build an underground bunker on their property. Due to his bounty hunting connections, Wolf kits out the bunker with enough resources and weapons to sustain them through the nightmare years ahead. Keeping them safe, until one day in 2020, he awakens to his Wolf Ghost barking at the open bunker door. And no sign of his family. This is where Wolf's story begins.
