Livonia Death Race [OOC Event with Staff]

Aiming to take place at 18:30 server time on Wednesday the 27th May.

Someone extremely loud and with a megaphone stands on top of a podium looking down at all of you, he's wearing a golden robe and seems to have shoulder guards made from human skulls. He wears a shiny chrome metal helmet in the shape of a bear skull, to his left and right are two burly bodyguards that seem to wear some sort of makeshift armor with spikes. You get blinded as really hot flames shoot out sky high from five tubes behind the announcer. You're not quite sure how you got here, all you know is that the beeping collar around your neck is a little too tight for comfort. The announcer clears his throat and starts to speak:

LAAAADIIIES AND GENTLEMAN! Welcome to the Livonian Death RAAAACE! You have all been chosen to participate in our yearly pursuit to find the most skilled drivers of the country. What will your tactic be? Slow and steady wins the race? Or will it be speed is key? Now you might ask yourself: "Why should I risk my life in something so obviously dangerous that has the word "Death" in the name?". That my dear friends is a good question, as I'm sure you've noticed your lovely new necklaces. These are rigged with explosives. Their trigger is tied to my heart rate, so go ahead, shoot me and you all die, either way, I win. Now, shall we get started? Of course I don't wish to be restrictive, I'd rather let you do your own thing and see what happens, but there will be some basic rules or as I call them, "The Ten Commandments":

1. 12 teams of 3 players, there will be no teaming allowed.
2. Only one car can remain in the end. Drive to survive. The car must keep moving at all costs.
3. There will be a "Le Mans" style start, meaning you have to run to the cars. If you want a faster car you need to run faster.
4. Each team gets a total of three chances to repair their car. There are two pit stops on the track that can be used for repairs and there are spare parts in each car for on the fly repairs.
5. A team is only out if either each member dies or their car breaks down completely.
6. Don't bring any gear with you, teams will be colour coordinated.
7. To simplify the race and to make sure we actually find the best driver, guns have been taken out of the equation. Just stay as long as possible in the race.
8. If you try to take shortcuts across a field or so you will be instantly disqualified. If you come off the track, get back on as fast as possible in approximately the same spot you came off.
9. Ramming cars and running over players on the track is not only allowed, it is required of you. 
10. The entire event is completely OOC, nothing is to be taken in character, just follow basic fair play rules.

Other information:

Spoiler

• Gear and clothing will be provided as well as BBQ and beer.
• There will be different cars with different amounts of fuel from the beginning. So watch out for that.
• Make sure to stash any gear beforehand if you want to keep it.
• Reminders will go out in game one hour before the event happens so you have ample time to finish up your role play.
• NO ACTUAL CHARACTER ON LIVONIA IS REQUIRED! You just need to enter your forum name in the parameters to join.
• Rules and details are subject to change.
• The winners will be announced here on the morning after the event.
• If you die you can rejoin and watch the event unfold on the watchtower.
• The track is closed of completely, so there is pretty much only one way to go. However, make sure you understand the track.
• Having a team of three isn't a requirement. But at least a second team member is a must.
• The last three players should always be careful, the game is called "Death Race" for a reason
• There might be some prizes for the winners.
• There might also be a surprise celebrity guest on the course.

If the objective is to survive and not to win the race, would people just be better of driving in 1st gear around the track and wait for the others to crash ?

Difficulty comes with monitoring laps for each car, but people will be incentivised to go faster than that. Just because players won't be able to use guns or other means, doesn't mean there won't be any danger to the race if you go slow

Also keeping the car in first gear can wear out the spark plug real quick and then you'll be out of the race faster than you can say "family".

Livonia server is now set up for race, you can join and have a few practice laps around the track before the race starts. If you don't already have a character on Livonia, you should spawn next to the radio tower that is next to the track.
