FAQ and Guide For character Pages (Post Wipe)

Hello there Staff team and community

Since that you are all aware at this point. The wipe is going to be out by the next month. Now, with this wipe there is going to be MAJOR changes to what chernarus/Livonia is actually going to be on the server. Most of you have a General TLDR of what it is all about, however this FAQ for the new lore and stuff that you can reference back to if you have any questions about any NEW character pages coming up on the forums. LET THIS BE KNOWN! That the Lore will be progressing each season and each season there could be changes in the server that can allow different forms of characters there also and maybe limit others. Take this into account and make sure you Frequently read this FAQ for future updates. With this said, here are some simple guides for you regarding the new lore:
 

• Will the New Lore be respecting Bohemian/Armaverse Lore?

             -No, the New lore will NOT be respecting the Armaverse/Bohemian lore in this current Wipe. ALL lore needed will be provided by the Loremasters (current and future) either on the site or Direct questioning. If people claim something from the ArmaVerse. Unless stated by us or in the Major Country posts/Whitelist lore it is not canon and will result in a denial

Staff member: Denied, the Bohemia lore is no longer canon, please take reference to the Country lore/Whitelist lore.

• Is Chernarus is a separate country?

              -No, Chernarus from 2018 is a Republic within the Russian Federation. It is NOT officially a country while the nationalists rebel groups such as CLF (Chernarus Liberation Front) wish to make it independent.

 

• I want to play a Western Soldier (America/Britian/Nato ETC) ACTIVE in Chernarus can I?

- No. In the way the current lore is written there is NO active soldiers from outside of Russia/Chernarus region in South Zagoria. Western Forces are not active here and can NOT state in the lore they have been sent/deployed in Chernarus. Livonia they are allowed to state that western forces are in the country as it is a NATO run country. However this does not downright deny characters who are westerners to begin with. The outbreak has been there for a long time so it is possible that characters could have been on lockdown for a long time in the country, either on holiday, trip, traveling etc...

Whitename: I wanna play a soldier character who went there on holiday with his family to chernarus but got stuck during the pandemic.

Staff: Accepted as long it fits the lore.

 

• When did the Outbreak happen? What is the virus?

There are 3 major forms of the outbreak. But the one we are playing in the server is the 3rd wave. Lets be clear here though. The Frenzied Flu outbreak did not happen until the 3rd wave as the infected outbreak is a mutation strain from the original virus. The first outbreak happens in Turkey in 2018. This is a MINOR pandemic outbreak and gains little media attention. It is not the Focus, The MAJOR outbreak is in the 2nd wave that happens in 2019. This is a major outbreak of a virus like the flu and courses mass death AND isolation that coursed a lot of the countries around the world to close their borders. It slowly began to die down at the end of the year but in 2020 rose up again what then mutates into the frenzied flu. This examples why there are many quarantine zones throughout Chernarus and Livonia on the Map.

Things to take into account:

-The infections origin is UNKNOWN, while assumed natural the exact origin is unknown, only first cases are seen within Turkey

-Most of the countries around the world have already had the 2nd strain of the flu for a year now, people are already naturally paranoid and distrusting due to forced isolation. (Think the world we are in now)

-Chernarus is NOT ground 0 as the infected outbreak was random around the country

- The name of the virus is Frenzied Flu, this is the COMMON name for it. No mentions of Caedesviridae should be listed ANYWHERE unless it's a Lore Faction/Lore approved thing.

 

• Are there Foreign medical aid groups in the country?

No, There is no WHO/Red Cross/Doctors without Borders/Salvation Army (Foreign aid) etc etc within Chernarus or Livonia. Many of the countries themselves will be overwhelmed by their own medical sector and will need all national doctors as possible within the country. Does this mean they can not play medical doctors within the country? No, they CAN play these characters however they can not be SENT within the country at that time to HELP with their Local governments at this time. However this does not mean these doctors can not be STUCK in their countries during these waves. They could have volunteered to help the countries of Chernarus/Livonia during this outbreak but can not be DIRECTLY sent to these countries to help out. 

 

• Is the 2009 Civil war still Canon? If so, who won?

The Civil war is still canon. HOWEVER only to the beginning of the Game of the Arma 2 campaign. The events of the game never happen as the US fully pull out from the war. So, the war results in the CHDKZ fully winning the war. 

 

• Does the CDF/NAPA/CHDKZ still exist?

No, the CDF was defeated in 2009 during the Civil war and NAPA hunted down and disbanded. While you can "Play" a former character who fought in the war claiming to be NAPA/CDF. This character has to be at least 30 years old. Anybody claiming to have joined the CDF/NAPA after is not canon as they where not a thing. Evolved forms of groups/organisations are allowed (respecting the lore) BUT NOT CDF/NAPA.

The CHDKZ does no longer exist, future groups claiming to be CHDKZ are not accepted/canon. The CHDKZ reformed into the RAC (Republican Army of Chernarus) in 2012 under the lead of Lopotev.

 

• Are any countries at war at the time of the outbreak/Nukes/etc etc with world ending events? Is the world dead?

No, no countries are at war at the time of the pandemic. The pandemic is global and a slow burn. There is no major event, no major nuke, war or anything that courses the infection to go down. A very pessimistic approach to the earths death. Some countries might still (at the time of the lorewipe) be active, but will have their borders shut/closed at the time. The death of this world is a slow quiet one, with the infected outbreak designed to finish of the rest of humanity.

 

• When we start Day 1 IG, how long have the infected been on the streets?

The fall of society within Chernarus and Livonia has been a long process. But the exact decay and fall of Goverment/society was the final nail in the coffin for these countries. You/Players will be playing into the first couple of weeks into the fall of each respecting region (after a week or so). The flu has been around for a long time and is still feared by society, the infected outbreak however just as scary to you and is still a relatively a new thing for everyone.

 

• Will Crazy/Cannibal Characters be accepted currently?

At this current stage in the lore, it does not make sense to have crazy/cannibal characters within the server. After time we will begin to allow these types of characters to be played in the server. You can play criminals/hostile characters/psychopaths etc etc...But cannibalistic traits/survival tactics at this CURRENT stage in the lore will not be allowed in the character pages.

 

• How can I get my foreign character in the country/Are the Borders Open?

In each setting, in both Livonia and Chernarus from the get go the eastern world has already fallen. So that would be Russia (Including chernarus), Poland, Livonia, Belarus etc etc. Their borders have already been closed Due to the outbreak seen in 2019 and now the newer one in 2020. From the get go of the lorewipe going live, there is NO border control from this point. HOWEVER it does not make sense currently for western characters coming to the country as they are also dealing with strict no movement laws at this time (Think COVID-19 we are having in the world today).

Does this mean They could have arrived before the outbreak? Yes, they could have been trapped in the country already, but have been trapped already for a decent amount of time due to the outbreak and the infection. Some of you might have stayed from the original outbreak others might have arrived when the borders where reopened. But the borders CLOSE again after signs of the 3rd outbreak. We will allow foreign characters back into the country after a period of time, those traveling around once the world is utterly fucked. HOWEVER at this point it is harder to build these characters.

 

• What political movements would be present in Chernarus?

Ones that deal with the situation in Chernarus. Pro-independent movements. Socialist/communist movements. Anti-capitalist movements. Pro-Western integration. Etc. What doesn't make sense is western or foreign movements with no basis in the countries history (or neighboring border countries) such as:

- Foreign gangs (non-ethnic) seeking to push political agendas with no history in the country (MS13/Crips/Bloods/Etc)

- IRA/Ulster Loyalism

- ISIS/al-Qaeda/Ahrar al-Sham/etc

- Nationalistic movements with no ties/basis in Chernarus such as Australia, the UK, Africa, etc

Does this mean I cannot play a char. with any ties to these groups? Of course you can. You character is your own, but do not seek to establish any of these movements in Chernarus as it makes no sense. Try and create your own new groups/ideologies/movements instead. Take inspiration but cater it to the lore and world you play in. If you have any questions, reach out to us LMs and we will happily work with you. We want to see NEW and CREATIVE ideas and groups going forward that fit into the world we have made for you. Keep in mind these things will change over time and these examples are not set in stone as we move forward in the lore.

 

• How do players react to infected?

Infected are still considered "people" who are just sick. Players should not be accustom to murdering them in the streets. There needs to be a fear and a restraint when it comes to interacting with infected. Killing in self defense is expected. Outright murder is still considered a war crime/illegal.

WRONG. Until proven otherwise in Lore players can still be held accountable for committing war crimes such as mass murder of people sick or not.

 

 

• Is COVID-19 Canon within our lore?

No! And that is going to be instant denied. No Covid memes/references. Covid-19 is has not happened is the Freenzy flu is what is canon. If people argue the fact "it was a thing in the past" shut it down.  Covid-19 is not canon.

2 questions and I hope I'm not being stupid and asking them in the wrong place, or they've been answered somewhere and I've missed it.

1. Expanding from the 'players reacting to infected', this suggests that the term zombie doesn't exist? Is that true? Would the knowledge of zombies in pop-culture etc. exist or not? I've always wondered...

2. Regarding tourism and reasons for entering the country, are we able to create events that we were in the country for? For example, a Games convention/Youtuber con that Chernarus was hosting in order to boost tourism etc. Would this be ok or am I infringing on server-wide lore too much?

As long as it has no major impact on the overall server-lore there should be no issue. (But do remember, it's a COMMUNIST Chernarus! Russia , and I don't think Youtube would host something there)

On the first point I may not have been clear. Rather than focusing on the way people are acting within Chernarus etc. I'm referring more to the fact of do zombies actually exist in the normal world pre-outbreak? In video games, films, tv series etc. etc. Or are we going Shaun of the Dead style, absolutely no idea of what a zombie is or how it acts/anything.

When translated from broken Deutch to English means: Yes, it is a part of pop-culture and they can indeed be seen as zombies. Although for now it's more scratches and beating people to death rather than straight up bites. So it's more like a rabies disease. Question. I have created a character who is an ethnic local. Fought in the CDF during the civil war, a carrier soldier. Clearly they lost. However as a carrier soldier he had no where to go other than conscription into the ranks of the RAC. Of course as a decreased rank.
 

Is this possible? Of course he would face a lot of backlash from his new comrades for being associated with the corrupt CDF, however this would be the only way he could serve the people he sworn to protect.

Up to you, there are other factions out that that represent the ideals your char may have. He is not forced to be conscripted into the RAC but it does make for a interesting dynamic in RP if you do join. The RAC is made up of Russians and Chernarussians (and other naturalized ethnic groups), but working within the CDF (who were disbanded) and who actively fought against the Chedaki plus whom many ex-CDF supported NAPA may present issues under a pro-lopotev/post Chedaki movement such as the RAC. Did your character support NAPA? Did your char actively fight the Chedaki during the civil war? Did your char. like Lopotev? These are things to think about when deciding on where he would of gone. 

TLDR; it's not impossible as the RAC is the replacement of the CDF but it would be a be strained as the RAC is made up of a lot of former Chedaki themselves and still support their ideals something the CDF weren't for but no longer have a voice against. 

Remember us LMs do not approve the Rosters for the Lore Factions, those are handled by the OOC Leaders. So there is a chance you may apply and not get accepted. If that is the case, roll with the punches and continue seeking out RP as you normally would.

Thanks! The idea is that it doesn’t matter to him. He wouldn’t have a choice in carriers after the removal of the CDF as if he joined one of the NAPA like organizations it would put his family in danger of being killed. However, he is a carrier soldier and didn’t care much about the political situation, he simply wanted to serve his country and people and get his men home safe. Didn’t hate the Chedaki, just didn’t want his men to die over them. Gonna see how it goes however, this is a new faction and lore after all. It’s worth the experimental characters.

Whilst I 100% agree and love this idea for the start of the lore, isnt this going to be a little hard to actually RP out? What with the hoardes of infected and the only real way to get rid of them is to kill them en masse? Once you've upset one infected, you've likely upset a LOT, and there is no more outrunning them due to the stamina bar.

I mean why should it be easy?

It should be a hard decision that your character makes. Do I just shoot all these infected people or do I risk my life and try to run away or trap them somewhere. Hell you might even have to drop your bag to outrun them just because of the fact that you still see them as human and don't want to murder them.

That is true, I usually try to trap them myself, shove them in a barn or something. I didnt say it should be easy to deal with them, just might be difficult at the start to keep it up without having to kill a bunch of infected just due to mass aggro/not having anywhere to shove them/getting bitchslapped to death in a bugged doorway etc.

Self defense is a thing @Fae so is OOC killing the Infected but we do not want the environment of the server to be "Oh just kill anyone and everything that moves!" This is still the real world IG and the infection has only been doing this to people (to the point of them walking around and attacking you) recently as a few weeks. Use it as a chance to RP with your group members or randoms. Hell, a chance to yell at randoms for shooting people!

I watched a few of the RAC do a wonderful job during their test run when one of them killed a infected down the road, "Why did you just snipe a man in the streets?!?" Etc. It's a great point for RP. Of course this will not be the situation as time moves on as it'll be obviously the infected will remain and the consensus will be "shoot them before they kill you."

@AndreyQ Yes, but it wasn't widely known/Popular until April 2020 in the West(USA), so around about this time the Infection is in full swing and people aren't likely to pose around being lewd for cash. Don't meme too hard regarding it, and you should be fine to bring it up in RP casually. And second off, you're in a Russian annexed country that probably wouldn't enjoy Western based media or platforms being utilized. 

Interest immediately dies off after Feb. 2020 for Russia. So keep this in mind. And stop making me google OnlyFans at work. >:C
