Why have YOU stopped playing?

Hello there fellow Role Players

Since the lore wipe was announced the servers were pretty much empty and I thought a poll on the exact reasoning of why this happened so we can all get some further insight on how this community thinks. I find it quite disappointing that the population is this low because to me it shows that there isn't much good role play left. I hope this poll can prove me wrong, but we'll see.
I made the poll anonymous so all people who just care about gear can be honest and I'm sincerely asking for everyone to be honest with the community and themselves on this. Maybe we'll find a more deep rooted problem. 

The first question is to hopefully show the reason behind the low population and I believe people might have multiple reasons which is why it's multiple choice. 

The second question is to reflect on how many people actually wanted the lore wipe to see where the data cross-sections (reasons for low pop overlayed with general opinion on lore wipe, will reply to this topic at a later time with the diagram).

I hope many people will participate in this poll to improve the accuracy of the data and not just to reflect a vocal minority, which ever side that minority would fall.

I for one am super excited for the lore wipe and I have confidence that the lore masters and staff will do an amazing job.

But let's have a civil discussion/poll here, we're all mature people here so keep it that way!

5. Home renovations put me on pause.

 

Look at it this way. In two weeks the servers will be the busiest they've been in a long time. Maybe some people are just taking a break to recharge before they come in swinging.

I’m still playing. Been playing more ever since the lore wipe was announced. People that have stuck around have some great storylines and are there for the RP, not the gear. RP has been advancing quicker and in a more exciting manner due to the knowledge of a lore wipe happening. I’m as excited about discovering the conclusion of this current lore as I am for the start of the next lore thanks to @Brayces.

I'm still playing and have been for over a month+.

I get in game every day to try and assess the IG world environment and progress personal and overarching storylines. If that doesn't seem to be on the docket then I go around and use Tools to play with people. Spawn things, chase them around, interact with them. Before I moved to Chernarus from Livonia I'd get on, see if people were playing on Liv if not then swapped to Chernarus and floated around to make little dynamic things happen for players who roamed around. 

But I also understand how we're in a pandemic at the moment, people's lives are not normal and some people feel no drive to even get IG and RP with a LW coming.

It is what it is. If you don't want to RP, then you don't want to RP. LW or not.

I think the current storyline that keeps branching out IG and involving those who ACTIVELY try to get involved with it is very engaging. I've pulled in people who I didn't even know would join like Jackfish and co. I try every day to see if RP can happen, even made textRP channels in my Discord for personal char. storylines so things can progress there that cannot take place IG for whatever reason (even if that isn't canon by Rolands standards or w/e). 

The only person to blame for not getting IG is yourself, if you wanted to RP you'd find ways to get RP regardless of a LW. But I also understand the desire to not want to RP because it feels "pointless" is there for a lot of players.

5. I am a solo player, playing solo and roaming from one end of the map to the other on purpose leads to 2-3 hours of walking. With no players online at my time anymore, it is not worth playing.

These are some of quite possibly the most pessimistic and bias options I've seen. Any form of something that falters from your opinion of 'people dont want to play because they dont like their char or dont want to lose their gear' just seem like half assed jabs.

Personally I'm not playing because as much as people try to make it seem shit is VERY interesting IC, it wasn't all that interesting other than the fights. S-GRU/Kam was just a perm war through executions, everyone else was just off doing their own shit and not involving anyone else. People are bigging their shit up to be one big oscar performance and it really isn't that. I got on to assist with hostage RP and fights, I got burned out and wanted a break from the server for it to be backed up with refreshing, different and NEW lore/ stories to push it.

If you push a Lore Team who are ALREADY working to a deadline who DON'T get paid at all and do this all in their FREE TIME as a fucking HOBBY and a favor because they enjoy the community you do nothing but burn them out and make them dislike the place and not want to even bother with pushing more out. You're shitting on their work by not allowing them to fucking finish it and to be completely honest that's outright selfish as fuck. The last lore team wasn't appreciated by the vast majority of the community and they just gave up, after reading some of the shit on the forums over the past few days I wouldn't blame this team either.

It's 16 days, I get with this Coronavirus shit going on people are stuck inside and bored but it's not going to change in the next few months so sit back, continue playing or play some other shit so you don't get burned out, close the forums and for the love of fucking god, get off the LM's backs. Acting out like it's a big issue, it's a matter of waiting patiently instead of shitting the bed. The server was pretty much dead for 6-8 months at one point and it survived and filled right back up to the brim and over. I'm sure 2 weeks won't hurt anything, especially with a lore wipe bringing hype to the server. We'll be fine.

Why I stopped playing:
- The OOCly motivated leaving of an important character to my currents char storyline left a large hole of disappointment and unexplainable loose ends, so my motivation dropped.
- IRL workload. I currently work for an institute of epidemiology and you can imagine the workload during a global pandemic.

Do I want a lore wipe:
- I'm very skeptical about the effects of lore wipes on the state and creativity of the roleplay as I was part of a lore faction at the start of this lore and have seen how fast all the bright plans can collapse with minor changes like a leading LM leaving. So I'm curious if this will be different, but have my doubts.

5. Playing on other rp servers, playing different games, petting cats, waiting for new lore for new characters. Preferably something that doesn't involve gear rp on form of taking everyone's automatics because reasons. (ps been running with bolt action the entire time i've been back without a base, so. :3 )

But no, honestly been just not interested at the rp on the server at time being. Mostly because MY Characters have not been feeling like interesting things to play for me. And lore wipe behind the corner, well... I have no reason to slap together a well thought out character with backstory. Hence, waiting for the lore wipe and to see what interesting things me and my friends come up with.

Well of course the options in the poll are going to somewhat reflect my personal opinion but I tried including some other ones too and giving people the option to add their own option if it wasn't included. 
I don't quite get why you have to get this angry though, no need for name calling like that to be frank. I created this poll to see what kind of reasons people had to stop playing, whatever those reasons were. I can certainly understand that a lot of people have certain difficult situations right now or are generally not happy with the way RP has been/currently is, for example you obviously, judging by your angry answer.
If you got burned out you have your options right there.
I agree, get off the LM's backs, they are doing a lot of good work as a hobby for hundreds of people and we should all appreciate that. I don't quite get who you're referring to here:

And yes, admittedly some of the option are jabs at people, because I don't like GearRP, but it's not like I'm calling out specific people since the voters names are not made public, so if you do GearRP I just want to know if that's the reason why you're currently not playing.
Also consider that people might have a few hundred reasons and not only is it quite impossible to think of every single possibility but also it would make the poll unnecessarily long.

I trust that there will be more than enough to work with but I do see your concern. Obviously you've been a part of this community way longer than I have but I did seem to notice a bit of a decline in quality RP since I joined in December. What the reasons are exactly, well, who knows really, but I believe a fresh start will change pretty much everything.

The argument is, the remainder of the server doesn't take this war into account when RPing and  its just boring when the only people interested in the war no longer play, and everyone else who still plays on the server is arrogant to the lore and war itself. That's why we stopped playing. Those who still play don't care about the happenings on the server in the bigger picture(all 16 active players). It's boring, it's uninteresting, and rather than burning myself out in this low period right before a wipe, rather go and play other games so that when lore wipe comes back it's fun and fresh.

I was more referring to the week or so prior to me taking a break till the wipe as to why I felt the server felt boring was because I got bored of the sly jabs OOC from people about our RP and other things, one side doing some shady stuff. I could go on and bold my text too to get a one up on something but we'd be here for a while so lets leave that there.

Either way, no one really cared for the supposed 'war' or how it would change anything because there was nothing to back it up bar one side consistently just spouting 'we win' everywhere.

I created this thread out of curiosity on what people had to say about their reasoning as to why they left, not because I'm fed up. 
Ranting is fine but it can also be kept civil. As Yoda once stated: Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. (don't know why fear would be in there, just a quote I think of every time someone gets angry).

This is your opinion. But in reality its just not true. We as S-GRU created so many storylines, people hated us and some loved us, some plotted against us and some didn't, there was alot going on behind the scenes and the feedback on our groupthread can back that up. S-GRU VS Kam was indeed a perm war, but what do you expect? I personally enjoyed the 1 RP situation from you boys where I permad my char in. Also, It's not like you people tried to do something different, in fact, I think you guys inititated more on us then we did on you. Im not gonna act like we won all the firefights, I think it was 50/50 untill the last weeks where I think we won more firefights. We accepted our loses and actually RPed around it, not sure if you people did the same but whatever I have nothing against Kam, I had fun.

Don't act like you wouldn't do the same if ran into 3 Russians, your people literally took me when I logged in, I didn't mind bc the RP was good but some will say that was a scum move too. Noone is dragging your group in the dirt, your people initiated more on us then we did on you in total so calm down please. + you violated directive 5.1, running in millitary area's as a civillian. You dont get special treatment just because you are Kamenici or a freshspawn.

That is just not true, most people I met knew about the war and cared about it, dont judge if you don't play.

I'm still playing and I enjoy being ingame. I had fun with Kamenici and it's a shame both my group and Kamenici are jabbing at eachother.

Lets get back on topic, why did you stop playing?

 

EDIT: Since @groovy clarence felt the need to flamebait one more time let me tell you why: Look up information about the Russian Spetsnaz, they changed into civillian clothes to gain a advantage on their enemy, thats what we did too. Do some research before you try to flamebait, thanks.
