Disable Map UI

You used to be able to look at a map in game without the GUI. You are not able to do that anymore and I would propose for more RP out of maps is to add CJ187-ImmersiveMap mod(https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2049818993&searchtext=). I believe it would lead to more actual use of maps in the game and more realistic feel to the maps that spawn within the game.

You (used to) be able to glitch your map in a way so that the UI didn't show up and you were able to walk around with the map in your hands, something that I would often do when (pretending to be) asking for direction. I personally wouldn't be against it, but I can see how it may be annoying for some that rely on the map in order to navigate, as it can be a lot harder to navigate without the UI.

I'm 100% all for this, I can't stand to be playing late at night at times where my eyes have adjusted to the duller color of the world around me only to be blinded by the all white UI overlay. I find the actual map model to be much easier to use then the UI overlay personally. I've quit using the in game map altogether because of it. If there's a way to do it without adding another mod I think that would be the route to take first.

I voted no. I love the idea of immersion with any game I play, however much rather have the GUI to navigate more clearly than a simple "zoom-in" from my player's perspective.

I find the UI useful for players who have trouble navigating or for newer players. I would, however not be opposed to a mechanic which allows one to switch it on/off without closing the map.

One benifit of having the map GUI not show, is while it is on your screen, players cannot hear your VOIP.

Its a good idea that has been done before and works quite well.

 

One more benifit of this specific mod you have listed @TheFlyingDoge is that the mod creator has given permission to repack it into the DayzRP PBO, meaning that any player that joins the DayzRP server does not need to have this mod downloaded or activated. Only the main DayzRP mod updated.

I'm with the other I used to always pull my map when I was using my phone or something to get a direction or for rp. I would love just a simply addon to disable the GUI

I voted yes, simply because the mod is a good benefit, and is allowed to be unpacked and integrated into the DayZRP mod itself.

It would be nice if you could toggle the UI. Perhaps while holding the map pressing M would toggle it off and on? Not sure if that would be hard to mod in.

I love it a lot more without the GUI, just because of all the possibilities. And not feeling completely blind when using the map.
