Is it time to move on from Chernarus?

With every lore wipe it seems we don't get much in the way of change. The lore itself changes, sometimes with little detail as to provide a more clean slate to do anything you want. Sometimes it's extremely detailed and in some cases that has led to some limited ways of making groups. With every iteration though, it has always been the same central thing which has led to the same groups. Foreigners vs nationalists, bordering countries invading, and the same backstories in essence. People have been open to a change in map as long as it could equal Chernarus. What if there was a way to do that? Deer Isle has gone through some heavy updates. Is it time to try and move away from Chernarus, perhaps this could change up the RP style drastically instead of leading us in the same directions over and over? Perhaps it's too late for this even if it was decided that it would be a good idea (due to the lore wipe coming in three or so weeks.)

No. Chernarus is the map of DayZ. I wouldn't trade it for any map currently available. Especially not Deer Isle (not that we could anyway).

Why are people so hell bent on repeating the same things over and over though when there are viable options available? I don't know the story behind why we can't use Deer Isle, but it's been heavily developed as you can tell from the various videos of which I doubt you took the time to look at even briefly. I suppose I can look forward to another 1,000 days of the same villages copy pasted over a 15x15km space so that's a plus, lol.

The recent Livonia craze has shown to me that ultimately Chernarus will remain the top dog in terms of map. It doesn't matter if the map is different or not. The map is not what determines the originality or quality of roleplay. Its up to the individual members of the community to provide the roleplay. The map is merely a setting. And Chernarus is frankly the best one for DayZ in my opinion.

Also, I have personally seen the updates to Deer Isle recently, and I still prefer Chernarus to it.

Okay but there are also other alternatives. Chiemese and Stuart Island come to mind.

Chernarus has been the map I have played on for nearly a decade. It has always been the go-to map to play on. All other maps tried to be better and more popular but none prevailed.

Last I recall, Stuart Isle was an incomplete map that was much smaller than Livonia and Deer Isle. Too small actually. Honestly, until Bohemia comes out with another great map, this is what we have. I don't even think other map authors will let us use their maps because we are Monetized.

Had a lot of amazing RP on it, even if it was mostly internal RP with my group at the time.

As much as I am somehow better at navigating on Livonia than Chernarus, I gotta prefer Chern.

Even though it pains me to say it, to me it wouldn't make much sense to replace Chernarus with another map. Why keep Livonia in if people obviously don't like it as much as Chernarus. So I'd be totally down for a new map since I have never actually played on Deer Isle, but it should replace Livonia and not Chernarus.

Voted no. Chernarus is a fully developed map with cities, villages, castles and etc. And other maps aren't like that, heck Deer Isle as I remember doesn't even have city signs. Also if I remember correctly Deer Isle as a map got removed from DayzRP due to the dev not allowing monitized communities, so Deer Isle is a no. And other maps  I don't think there is any as developed as Chernarus.

We will run with Chernarus and Livonia from the lore wipe until one of the maps die. Livonia is probably first, as people always turn back to Chernarus. Stuart island is 5x5km. We are not allowed to use Deer Isle or we would probably still have it.

And who knows. We might have a new map in the future. Only time will tell. But Chernarus will always stay.

There are no good maps around right now, keep Old Chernarus.

How about we wait and see what the new lore is before we go about and start QQ’ing over a dead server.

the only reason server pop is low is because staff foolishly posted a lore wipe announcement a whole ass MONTH before.

 

2 weeks would of been too long, but a whole month? Of course everyone’s going to sit out for the wipe. It feels pointless as it is.

 

The ONLY map I will ever, EVER be willing to trade Chernarus for is Namalsk.
