Hunger depletion rate

Hello.

I have noticed very recently, hunger seems to repleat extremely quickly. Last night every time I ate some meat or a can of food, 5 minutes later, I am red food. Constantly having to eat all night long.

After 4 firefights and trying to actually roleplay with a hostage, we had to stop at least 6 times to eat, scavenge for food or we were all going to die of hunger.

Whoever has adjusted the rate has adjusted it way too much. We should be priortising roleplay over having to survive the next 10 minutes with watching your food go from full white to yellow to red in a matter of 20 minutes and thats with jogging. Some of you might say 'you should be stocked on food' after about 6 hours of playing whack-a-mole firefighting and roleplaying mutliple hostage situations, yeah we ran out. It was much more balanced before, once you hit white you had atleast an hour before needing to worry about food and water again.

Or maybe it's just me noticing this and its not been touched? I don't know.

Have you been sick or cold recently during the fights or Rp? Being cold drastically drops your hunger down, like a stupid amount. Same with being sick. However I agree what your describing seems like an excessive amount of eating. Maybe the Ruski man is just fat?

Your probably right, I had to cure sickness multiple times last night.

If thats thats the case, the common cold shouldn't make you want to eat and drink 10 times your weight.

In that case it must be the rate of depletion due to the sickness.

@Roland I personally think this needs adjusting

Last patch was like a month ago, so this is not a new change. Just don't get sick, ez ?

Hi there, mole here.

As well as what firedude said, I’m pretty sure different foods have varying nutritional value, as in they keep you full for longer. I’ve only ever had the issue you stated with water after only having fat in my INV for a while, I’ve been fine on food even when cold or after having a sickness.

Might be wrong though, haven’t had much of an issue with food bar after respawning because it’s near impossible to find any.

We don't have tools like you to spawn medicine ?

You know how on stream you were constantly getting sick? Well, that is a daily occurrence for us, at this point every single character on Chernarus is a junky with the amount of pills one has to take in order to stay healthy. Could we please just remove getting sick altogether, doesn't make sense to get sick so frequently and just completely out of the blue.

But it seems like hunger might need some tweaking with how it works at the moment!

Yeah you know that patch you did for sickness? It must of blew away in the wind because it really hasn't helped much.

Maybe remove the random sickness that seems to hit 4 times per day ?

This needs to be reduced. You can combat it easily if you gorge on Flintstone gummy vitamins, but is so needless.

There we go, @Roland remove/fix the sickness, ez

just carry tetra! the idea was to make the environment more challenging

at this point it's tedious rather than challenging, just pop pills until that icon is gone... just doesn't make sense

and in roleplay situations it's annoying when everyone is coughing/sneezing

This seems to be a subject brought up a lot tbh. Yes the sickness can be abit frustrating but it’s not as bad as it was as for the hunger issue I just think people need to prioritize what’s important. I ran from svetlo to Zelenogorsk the other day and because I had a full stomach from eating and drinking I didn’t need to stop once. Svet to zeleno is a long way as it’s near enough one side of the map to another.

My only recommendation to people who are constantly hungry or thirsty is prioritize it over everything else. Forget PVP, forget hostages, forget gear and make sure you have enough food as opposed to 200+ rounds of ammunition and extra guns hid away on your person.

I have toiled many times with playing as a hunter character but at the end of the day there’s no point because there’s food everywhere and you become useless.

I've noticed this recently myself. I hadn't been on since before the latest patch. It usually happened when I was sprinting in rainy weather for a long period of time. The "sick" icon wasn't showing. I also realized i was eating low-nutritional value canned goods. It's best to do a little hunting once in a while to have an appropriate diet.

After doing that, I haven't had much issue. Just stay warm, eat the right foods, and try not to sprint long distances, just ease into your travel!

Also, would recommend taking Multivitamins, or Glucose pills to keep your immunity up. You can be sick without seeing the "sick" symbol.

Well, advice from me is to always eat and drink till you fill both bars completely. When both are full drink some water from time to time, if you pass through a city spare a few seconds to take a sip or two, and to refill your canteen, once in a while take a multiwitamin pill, that works perfectly for me. You can also make an improvised MRE for yourself, take a cooking pot, fill it with water, slots inside use to store highly nutricious food (Cooked pork and fat), this way you'll have enough food to keep yourself full for about a day of playing.

Did you even read the opening posts?

The issue is not having to physically carry multiple cans of beans and take over my precious PvP space im so worried about. The issue is sickness depleting your health far quicker then it should. We as a group had plenty of food, within an hour, if even, we were depleted to physically zero food from jogging.

Yes I understand that but I would ask why are people getting sick? once that thermometer goes blue its a warning. Stay in the blue for too long and you'll get sick. Don't run outside in the rain. Make a fire, stay warm. I understand its frustrating doing all that for people who see it as a chore but its what you have to do to stay healthy. Always ensure you have at least three pieces of cooked meat in your pants, ensure you always have a supply of extra meat to eat along with tetracyline and vitamin pills - there are medical buildings everywhere.

I am simply trying to give advice to those who cannot figure out why they are always sick. I never get sick, I never fear of dying from hunger or dehydration and I play 5-10 hours a day and sometimes find myself heading out to de-sync so I must be doing something right. - If my group is not online and I want something to do I will hunt for food and cook it so that when they do come online we are not spending too much time worrying about where to get food from.

You could nominate members of your group to have a certain role aswell. Medic for medicine? A hunter who is responsible for food maybe? I hope this helps those who find hunger and sickness a big  problem in the game because to me its non-existent.

@Ryan Shepherd I think the issue is that you were constantly on the run and in the rain. So, you had three different very huge factors that were effecting your hunger and health.

1.) Running depletes hunger faster
2.) Being cold depletes hunger faster
3.) Getting sick from rain depletes your hunger faster

Which all three of these factors can deplete your health if not taken care of properly.

Your "hungrieness" isn't really about the food, it is about your energy output versus your energy intake. In the case of last night, it was the fact you had the weather working so heavily against you while you are trying to run kilometers across the map in a very short span of time. The only way it would have been more pleasurable on your food and health meter would have been to wait out the rain next to a warm fire (which for obvious reasons you didn't want to do, which I understand).

I'm using hypothetical numbers cause I can't remember the real ones.

But IIRC, there is a certain point where you can top up 'above' the max. Like if 1000/1000 is full meter, and 100/1000 is red, you can overeat and get up to something like 5000/1000 (over time, so you don't puke) and give yourself a buffer.

I've noticed this can sometimes make it seem like food is depleting faster then you are used to when you run forever and don't have it drop below full, then suddenly you are having troubles keeping topped up.

Also, what @cjackson821 said. I haven't personally been in game enough lately to test how bad any changes made were.

Hell, I feel my character has gotten tapeworms in the last few weeks, with the way the hunger depletes so quickly.

You can sit there and eat a few steaks, drink and then some time has passed and your back to red hunger and if your in the middle of an RP scenario and you've consumed all the food you had, you better hope that your mates have some or there is food in a nearby town because you will be cutting the RP short just to find food to survive.

Even with the rain and the sickness I feel as if I'm eating more pills than I am food and that's crazy af ?

Hopefully we can curb the sickness because at this rate it's going to be like the hunger games trying to find Tetra.

I've been fine for the most part. I usualy have tetra on me 24/7 so i can't really say much about the "You get more hungry if you are sick."

Also @Eddie i would recomend goin' to one of the doctors with that one ? Doesn't sound too good that your character has tapeworms.

As somebody runs and sprints alot, and covers 1/2 of the map on daily basis, how the hell do you guys get hungry? I have never seen orange food indicator go to yellow or red...
