Sapphire Truemonkh Posted May 2, 2020 Sapphire Share Posted May 2, 2020 So when I created a new group I already took into consideration to have a prefab later down the line. So I got the Community offline mode to work and tried some stuff out. Initially I wanted to try out something by finding a completely empty section of the map and start adding some stuff that would fit the lore of the map and my group. But quickly I realised that maybe a prefab would work much better if I used an already existing location (for example the industrial area north of Topolin) and then add/remove some stuff from it to make it fit my vision better. So the question I have is: Is it allowed to remove trash and miscellaneous items and even buildings to replace them with other things or leave them out completely to give the prefab a cleaner look? Many POI's have lots of trash laying around and I feel that if a group like mine would move into such a location they'd make an effort to clean it up first before establishing a lab and factory to produce the gas that was used in France and Germany to kill the infected. Multiple things removed where the red circles are. So yeah, is that allowed and if not, should it be / is it even possible? Link to comment

For easiness's sake, you cannot remove things, only add. I would suggest asking this to the man himself! -snip- Maybe he may be able to add greater insight as to why things cannot be removed, or maybe even give special exceptions for him to remove things himself from the mission file! Legend Duplessis Posted May 2, 2020 Legend Share Posted May 2, 2020 Even if you delete things in the editor they will still remain in the actual base game. So no. I think they even reappear when you reopen the editor. Link to comment
MVP Duke Posted May 2, 2020 MVP Share Posted May 2, 2020 You cannot delete anything that's already in the world as DayZ / Arma runs on a mission file. You'd have to put on an entirely new mission file to keep the changes when you remove already added in. Whereas new stuff is a line which looks like this: Quote SpawnObject( "bldr_Dead_pile1", "13585.500000 53.226002 12124.500000", "-103.000000 0.000000 0.000000" ); That you put into a certain file to get the server to spawn it. So no, you cannot remove anything from the map. Link to comment

How about painting the floor with a different texture if for example I wish to make a driveway, is that possible? Link to comment

El Presidente Roland Posted May 2, 2020 El Presidente Share Posted May 2, 2020 No, you can't remove existing map objects, only add new ones. Link to comment
Jukki
I remember that in arma 2/3 there was way to remove map objects, tho not sure if it works on dayz SA (probably does). If you knew the coordinates of the object (by manualy typing in script, or placing an empty object on top of it), you could then search for any map objects next to it that you want to remove, and then remove it. You would need to go into the pbo of the item you want to texture, extract the .paa, save it as a png, texture, save and repack it as a .paa, code the item to call for that texture Instead of the default in the mission file or make a mod that would allow for this. It's not that easy and it's pretty confusing for the first few times. Edit: also it won't work on this server unless you give the assets and code you made to Rolle and then it belongs to him and DayZRP. Edit again: @Roland, you can but you have to do it with Terrain Builder/Bulldozer and it must be implemented as a custom map. It's hard to learn but it's second nature once you do. Oh wow, that is quite complicated. It looks like I might just stick to the basic building until there is an easier way to implement something like this, but I appreciate the answer, you really seem to know your stuff! Link to comment
