Diamond Mugin Posted April 25, 2020 Diamond Share Posted April 25, 2020 If you do your utmost to bring RP to the server, it'll probably go well for a short while and you'll enjoy yourself here long enough to form some kind of Stockholm addiction. In that head space you will most likely play until you hate this game and the people who inhabit it. Best of luck, really. Find friends who do their utmost to RP. Don't break character, and don't use VOIP to talk OOC. Link to comment
Roman
Don't start out as a bandit, It takes a lot of knowledge and experience to really provide good hostileRP. Don't take things that happen In Character personally and don't bring it OOC. Join a group and make new friends, it will hopefully provide more roleplay and make your stay more fun. Welcome to the community and enjoy your stay sir. Edited April 25, 2020 by Roman 1 Link to comment

There used to be a mentor program, that might be able to gain more activity given the circumstances of the world. That being said, I really recommend just playing public to get the game mechanics down first. Going ig can be tough in terms of figuring out game mechanics, and not breaking character. If you are able, just do not break character when figuring out how to work game mechanics. If you find someone able to help you ig, all the better. Link to comment

Before you even think about killing someone you need to understand how things are done first and really understand the rules, so put that thought way back in your head for now. Join a group and learn from them or just observe peoples roleplay so you get a better understanding what to expect. Link to comment
MVP Whitename Posted April 25, 2020 MVP Share Posted April 25, 2020 6 minutes ago, Dakota M J said: where i meet a group and then when they need me the most i do shoot to kill someone just keep in mind you can't just up and shoot people just be a nice guy and wait for your character to get caught up at the wrong end of a gun to see how more experienced players handle it, then you should have a better idea of how to go about things. just keep in mind 99% of the reports are related to hostilities so you shoud place the most care in that area. Diamond Noble Posted April 26, 2020 Diamond Share Posted April 26, 2020 A quick bit of advice: Never get attached to your gear. Never get angry cause someone stole your Grandpa's M4 or something like that, it's just items and you don't need them to RP. You should always value your own life over a gun. Link to comment

Never get angry cause someone stole your Grandpa's M4 or something like that, it's just items and you don't need them to RP. You should always value your own life over a gun. This. I feel it's funny for me to say or highlight because in all my time here I wasn't robbed in the classic sense at all. I was taken hostage maybe 2-3 times I can recall and then died later because big shootouts happened or so. But no robbery type of shit in the classic sense. But the point I want to highlight is not getting attached to your gear. While I may not have been robbed much or at all I lost enough shit due to looted bases or storage containers or dying in fights. To be honest, it took me a while. While I have years of RP experience (usually in other genres or those you don't really have to loot your equipment from specific places, like ARMA RPG and shit) and played a lot of DayZ before joining DayZRP, this was still a new experience. But the game is more fun if you don't value gear too much and not to a level you're willing to die for it despite high probability of dying because you are outnumbered or in a bad position. It's just gear in the end. Focus more on the roleplay, how stories develop, what your character (and you) witness and go through. Other than the tips provided or linked already, I am sure you'll get the hang of some things eventually. 1 Link to comment
Diamond neom Posted April 26, 2020 Diamond Share Posted April 26, 2020 Read the rules, read the rules, read the rules. I can not stress how many new people have skim read the rules and think they know they all. Not just read them but understand them, speak to people, ask questions if you aren’t sure. Don’t sit there and think you know them when you don’t! Don’t get attached to your gear, it’s just gear you’ll get more tomorrow, Focus on RP rather then PvP Lastly know when to stop, it’s a game it’s not that deep Link to comment

If you're planning to do medical situations with this medic character, you could read up on how to properly do medical RP! It can be a little confusing at first, but very rewarding and makes for cool character development! This is helpful guide for you to read! Best of luck! 1 Link to comment

Legend Jade Posted April 28, 2020 Legend Share Posted April 28, 2020 Take a gander through some of the recently solved reports. Reading through reports helps you get a better understanding of the rules and how they should/shouldn't be played out, especially if you're worried about badrp. Link to comment
