Speak Softly, and Carry a Big Stick


To pin down the origins of a group such as the Coalition, one would be tasked with pinning down the origins of each individual that lends their name to the banner.
In short, the first whisperings of a Coalition were uttered, through hot breath in the frozen air of Chernarus in December, between a mercenary with a dream, and a rather average survivor with a little bit if inspiration. Their murmurs eventually were built into an ambition.

Chernarus & The Commune
A quaint settlement built of farmers, fishermen, and craftsmen, led by a U.N. Diplomat that described himself as a paper pusher, by the name of Nicholas Brooks.
The village was built in the ruins of a town called Tulga, its high altitude and far reach from the warlord-controlled wealds of the north kept it safe and away, in a rare pocket of peace. Still, being surrounded by a country in chaos, peace never lasts long, despite Brooks' efforts.
Eventually, one of the larger and more volatile of these factions, known simply as "The 5.0.3." caught wind of the existence of Tulga. The town was ransacked, fortunately, mostly when the townspeople were away or asleep, night after night. Supplies became scarce. Especially medical supplies. Brooks fell unfortunately ill, leaving two women he saw fit to lead in his stead in charge of the Commune. Those two women were Wynne Walker and Hana Pechova.
The 5.0.3. had a rather specific (and widely acknowledged) interest in women, unfortunately, and their simple night raids turned into threats of kidnapping, and worse. Fortunately for Tulga, for the Commune, to the north they had friends in a well-armed and well organized group of fighters, The Praetorian Guard. Unfortunately, it was still not enough.
A mercenary working for the Praetorian Guard, by the name of Ben Hansen, approached Wynne with a proposition; that his Mercenary group, known only as Umbra, would form a union with The Commune and offer protection from the growing list of factions that might threaten them. At the time, Wynne would not make a decision without consulting Nicholas first, and she would hold onto the idea, waiting for a moment to contact him, but...by then, he was already too sick. Locked away in a Praetorian Guard quarantine, by all accounts, not even lucid.
Without their leader, Tulga did eventually fall, and the few survivors fled to a new land, where they might be safer, leaving Nicholas Brooks behind in the care of the Guard.
He was never seen again.

Livonia & Radacz
After parting ways from what was left of The Commune, Wynne Walker, and her partner, Jacob Antone, set up a quiet but rather endearing homestead for themselves in a small Livonian town called Radacz. One of the other ex-Commune members, Robonull Scott, stayed in the town with them occasionally, and in neighboring areas, they had friends in the Knights of Georgia, The Del Toro Cartel, as well as a NATO force group known as Section 20.
The Knights were also fleeing Chernarus, and the 5.0.3. specifically, when they came to Livonia, so Wynne and Jacob immediately felt at home with them, often visiting to bring supplies to the large Prison fortress they housed themselves in, and sometimes, even helping to defend it against would-be bandits and attackers.
In the meantime, Radacz began to grow. Robonull brought a solitary, soft spoken (but surprisingly capable) man, one named William Foley, on one of his runs to meet Jacob and Wynne at the prison. At first, he was simply a neighbor, but over time, this small band of people learned that they could rely on each other.
During a scuffle with robbers, Jacob was injured fairly seriously in the leg, and at the time, there wasn't a doctor available to help, so Wynne took a chance by reaching out over the radio. She made contact with a man named Frank Pritchard. A somewhat gruff and abrasive man, at first, but an intelligent and loyal one. At the time, the doctor had nowhere to go, so, in return for the assistance, he was offered a stead in the center of town. He accepted, and Radacz grew yet.
A group, known as The Grizzlies, that Jacob was once a part of, and even ran for a time, also from Chernarus, resurfaced in Livonia as well. Ray Knox, Thomas Everett, and some of their contacts also began to settle in Radacz. An ex Russian Special Force Operator, named Draken Smirnov, (a friend of Thomas Everett,) would join as well, and, to top it off, an ex member of Green Mountain Charity also began to set up in the area. Before Wynne knew it, she sat in a bustling new settlement, filled with colorful folks, people who would call each other friends. 
But, peace never lasts, and eventually, the leader of the 5.0.3. himself came knocking.
Wynne was taken, and was to be forced to be married to a member of the 5.0.3. With the (perhaps inadvertent) help of an old contact of hers who was now a high ranking member, she was able to escape.
But Radacz was no longer safe. And they would be forced to move again to avoid the wrath of the 5.0.3.

The Run & Rodzanica
It was then that Wynne reached out to Ben Hansen, and Umbra, recalling the idea that he had all the way back in December in Chernarus. The idea had expanded by this time. And both Wynne and Ben had evolved. This was no longer about defending civilians from raiders, the threat that the 5.0.3. posed to any peaceful life, not just in Chernarus, but apparently in all of Eastern Europe, and so, they would unite to defeat them. 
As the Prison Fortress fell from the hands of the Knights of Georgia and into the hands of The 5.0.3., The Cartel also found themselves on the move. Section 20 and what little remained of the Praetorian Guard remained in contact as well, and all agreed to take part in this union. A formidable base of Operations was set up at a large radio tower in the deep woods of Livonia.
And so, the first form of the Coalition was born. Supplies were stocked and arrangements made. A congregation of groups all pulling together to supply, protect and inform each other, assist each other in maintaining operations, and defend themselves against the rising threat of the 5.0.3.Together, they fortified both their outposts and their relations in preparation for the inevitable, while, back to the West, their enemies did the same, and searched for them.

From the Tower to Tarnow
After an enormous storm wiped out Rodzanica, and Umbra broke away from direct affiliation with the Coalition to perform more independent operations, many of the Coalition's members and affiliates decided to try their luck further north again, in hopes of making contact with some of the newer groups forming in the area around Sitnik. Trade and commerce boomed for the Coalition during this time, and it was rather peaceful. This being the first time the Coalition would make itself known to the world officially, there were new recruits and new alliances formed.
But again, peace would never last long with the shadow of the 5.0.3. and its new prison fortress looming over Livonia. Their numbers grew too, and the roads remained too dangerous to traverse alone for many civil folk.
And so, the 5.0.3. came knocking again, this time offering a choice: Bow, publicly to the 5.0.3., dissolve the Coalition, or be enslaved to them.
Wynne was given 24 hours to submit. She chose instead, to pull her contacts together for what they knew was coming all along, though they hoped it would not.

An Armed Resistance
With the absence of Umbra, the civilians of Radacz, and now Tarnow, along with many other survivors who had banded together, chose to arm themselves and fight. Tired of moving, tired of hiding, tired of waiting on others to fight for them,  pushed to the brink, The Coalition made it's first real move the night their submission to the 5.0.3. was due. Their response was a raid, thrown together by a rag tag group of simple farmers, hunters, civilians, and their friends, on the Prison itself.
The first attempt at entry was ultimately unsuccessful, but they left only one survivor within the prison, and one gate still locked, and walked away with few injured while most remained unscathed. Despite the injuries, and not being able to get through the last gate, their spirits were high.
The next day, The Coalition received a slew of correspondence from surrounding groups, other factions and survivors in the area, curious onlookers to the previous raid. They had more support than ever, and were relieved to hear that they would not be fighting this war alone after all.
Group after group began to organize their own attacks on the 5.0.3. and their prison fortress. By the second night, 48 hours after the Coalition was given it's ultimatum, the prison gates were opened, and all of Livonia saw what could be possible when people pulled together.
The 5.0.3. did not last long when the rest of the country saw that they were not untouchable. That mere civilians would take them on, and could even achieve victory. And finally, with the cooperative help of nearly every functioning faction in Livonia, the threat was eliminated.

The Post War Coalition
When the violence dissipated and the dust settled, it took some time for the Coalition to find itself again. The taste of war and the lingering paranoia that had become the norm for them, took some time to finally settle with the dust. But it would. And when it would, the Coalition's goals became clear again. To provide protection, support, supplies and infrastructure to survivors in Livonia who wished to do more than survive; To help them live.
The Coalition formed its new Headquarters in Topolin, at the old Police Department, and began to reach out to the many groups and people who surfaced in the wake of the war, people who could do nothing but hide before, in hopes that they might want to be part of building a new world, one worth living in. 

The Coalition itself, upon establishing itself as an independent faction, has a growing number of branches that perform more specialized tasks and operations.
The recruits and operators within these branches are commanded by Council Members of the Coalition. The Council being the lead branch.
(only a handful of branches have official recruits so far, this list will grow over time as people join the official roster)

A.R.C COUNCIL
The Council Core is tasked with overseeing Coalition operations, diplomacy, information, trade, infrastructure and development. 

WATCHTOWER
Watchtower is the independent ground task force for the Coalition. Tasked with civilian defense, forward operations, and dispensing hostility if peace cannot be kept.

DEADLIGHT
Deadlight is tasked with shadow operations, with the goal of promoting peace and prosperity, through whatever means necessary.

To set an example on the server for Value for Life above Gear

 

Recruitment is restricted to STRICT IN CHARACTER RECRUITMENT ONLY

The Coalition was built on weeks or even months of trust developed between our characters based upon like mindedness, value for life, loyalty, and the ultimate goal of helping others. Therefore, there is no way to OOCly apply to become a member. You must run into us in game and role play with us for a time before you can be officially inducted. Only Council members can officially recruit you.
That said, we are recruiting ICly. We also keep a close eye on the DayZ Radio forums for anything of interest. If you have trouble finding us in game, that would be a good place to start.

Group page looks nice. One issue in it tho. 

In your lore you mention destroying the 5.0.3, I have yet to see the coalition win any fight against the 5.0.3, and reports shouldn't be taken IC. so i dont know where "destroying" the 5.0.3 came around, Would like an update on the lore with accurate information.
