Sheriff
It's been over 2 1/2 years since the outbreak started. I think by now the amount of canned food would be significantly lower than it is. People be munching like there's no tomorrow on canned goods, but I think if the amount of it was reduced it'd place more emphasis on farming, hunting, fishing, and trading for food. What's yall's thoughts? Link to comment
Buckly
This is how I feel about all the more weapons and military gear. Wish there was a mod to give them a more relic and or rusted like feel. Ammo I mean how can that survive exposure? The food items should be more like mason jars. I think that there would be places that are producing things. I think it would be a lot like the middle ages, you would have rabble all around but there would always be those who rise to power and try to produce what is needed even if it is just for the elite. Kinda how humanity has survived so far. For many reasons though this is a game and we have to suspend true realism for convenience and RP. Sure we can farm but things grow super fast, fruit gnomes supply fruit during frozen winter weather. Just sayin how I see it in my head Link to comment
Diamond Eagle Posted February 28, 2020 Diamond Share Posted February 28, 2020 Food is there to make it less of a starving simulator lore or not it doesn't effect RP at all. Link to comment
Calico Jack
Two reasons I'm dead set against this: Firstly, it will just make general gameplay annoying. Sure, when you're already a geared player with a network of allies it's easy to stay fed. Not so much when you're a freshie or a solo survivor. There's still a ton of reason to farm, hunt and fish with the loot tables the way they are now, and there's plenty of times where I've come very close to starving because I can't find any food. Making it even harder just means that there's another thing to worry about and detract the focus from RP. Second, where do we stop? Military bases and police stations would be picked clean for ammo and weapons, supermarkets and hunting stores would be completely empty, etc. etc. There's a fine balance between realism and fun. This would just tip the scales the wrong way. Link to comment
Guest Generic Name
If you could kill a deer with a bullet to the head and get more than 2 steaks from it, yes, but as the animals are modded right now, you'd just condemn a lot of people to die. You don't want the server to just be full of fresh spawns roaming around beggin for food. Link to comment
Emerald Wulf Posted February 28, 2020 Emerald Share Posted February 28, 2020 After dying a few times to dum stuff over the course of yesterday and the day before. I personally found there's a severe lack of food in the spawn towns currently. Between everyone living up north and the sheer amount of deaths that occur on a day to day, its a famine starting out as a fresh spawn without external help. Although with a little planning you can use your time wisely and be okay but if it rains, RIP that hunger bar. Link to comment
MVP Eddie Posted February 28, 2020 MVP Share Posted February 28, 2020 Look, I am all for the realism of the food slowly being depleted over time but I believe the current food spawns are fine the way they are. Not everyone are hunters and survivalist, if food was to be reduced in the loot table the people playing characters that depend on finding these canned items or jams, etc are going to have to depend on others IC to do hunting and finding food for them and some may not want to do that. So for that reason I voted No on this. Link to comment
cmohr
RP>Realism. There's no point in reducing food just to make the game harder and make people starve to death. Doesn't make the game any more fun, just more inconvenient. 1 Link to comment
Emerald Lucky1911 Posted February 28, 2020 Emerald Share Posted February 28, 2020 Canned food is fine, While its no the easiest to always get its enough so people to survive, However hunting is still the way to go. Link to comment
Diamond hctiM Posted February 28, 2020 Diamond Share Posted February 28, 2020 I feel if canned food is adjusted to be rarer that a lot more people will be starving to death Link to comment
Diamond Dongle Posted February 28, 2020 Diamond Share Posted February 28, 2020 Do as you please I'll just continue surviving off soup kitchen. Link to comment
JamesRP
Going by your logic, not just canned foods would be rarer, but animals to hunt, fish to catch and resources to farm would also be rarer. I think its fine the way it is, we dont need to change something that doesnt need to be changed. Link to comment
Diamond Scarlett Posted March 1, 2020 Diamond Share Posted March 1, 2020 I am going to vote no on this, people already struggle to find food as it is, we lower it any more people will starve. I am all for realism but sometimes you need to remember it is a game. If we reduce the food to more then what it is, it will make the game harder then what it already is. It will take the fun out of the game and we don't want that. Link to comment
