How does this effect your character page on your profile? Since that's based on who is your active character?

Just to clarify, if I played James (who is on Livonia) and went and robbed some player and ran away, I would have to wait out the 2 hour timer and be out of line of site for the full 30 minutes, before switching to Jeff, another character (who is on Livonia)?

OR

Do I have to remain on James for a longer period of time before switching to Jeff?

I'm a bit confused.

Is the character permanently locked to a location? Or could the character be moved across locations?

That would be hostile action timer, so you'd have to wait 2h before switching to another character while people have KOS rights on you, 30 minutes only counts as combat log timer.

For now it can be freely changed.

In the future it might get locked, especially if we have maps that are very far apart and characters wouldn't realistically be able to travel between them. (like Stuart Island<-> Livonia).

Like what @Father Tiger said, does switching character work like the normal combat logging rule, e.g. wait 30 minutes and u can switch. Or is it like the server swapping that has resulted in some bans a while back, where you need to wait the full 2 hours for all killrights to wear off.

It will automatically show your last played character.

Case by case ?

2h before you can swap characters as far as I am aware.

Edit: Like rolle said, case by case. But to be on the safe side I'd suggest just waiting the 2h before switching characters given somebody has KOS rights on you.

Like @Phoenix stated, the 2 hour timer after hostile actions. I'm just going to play it safe and wait the 2 hours and run & hide. Maybe longer just to be safe. Maybe change my clothes too.

This will clearly split the community. Those who play on one server will never join the other.

What do you mean? How does active character pages change affect server population?

If anything it could make it easier for people to switch between our servers and still make sense.

Having two servers does that not active characters.

Not sure if this was already answered, but:

1. Lets say I dedicate a character to Livonia but somewhere in the future because of low player numbers the server gets shut down. Does that bury the character with the server or are those chars allowed to move to a different server within a reasonable explanation?

2. Is there any system in place to prevent people from just deleting a character that was placed on one map to be then re-created identical for a different server?

My current "active character", the one that appears underneath my name, is one that I've never played, nor do I have any intention of playing them yet. Is there any way to change who appears there with these new changes? It's definitely not displaying the last character I played. It seems to be displaying the last one I created, unfortunately.

Once you get in game after this change it will update.

For clarification, does this mean you can have multiple sims on the map or that you can just have multiple names listed to the one sim.

IE,

I have one sim for Calvin in Lukow and one sim in Radacz.

Or is it how it was before, one sim and you just switch the active char name.

On the server there is only one character. It's a technical limitation imposed by how DayZ stores character data. No matter how you change your name and character pages on the website, you will always play the same character in game, with same model, gear and location.

Character location field is now enforced - you can only set it once and it cannot be changed afterwards. We will look into unlocking the option with a cooldown later on.

hi, i see the Location field rule has been enforced, which now locks my existing character out of Linovia because it was a character i moved from Chernarus to Lin previously. Would it not be fair to reopen our ability to switch once more? as a temp action

Does that mean once in a location you can't swap location for now?

after the restart for maintenance just now, i went edit my character to change from Cherno to Livonia. But there was no option to do so. I recreated another character and picked Livonia as the location and had to delete my exisiting character (website only - Not in game)
