Diamond Player 1 Posted February 13, 2020 Diamond Share Posted February 13, 2020 Something unique about this game is that you need to press [R] to load the next round in a bolt action or lever action or pump action. Have any of y'all found this annoying or a reason to not use those weapons and prefer semi-auto or have you forgotten to press [R] in a time of need because you panicked, or is it not an issue at all? I'd like to know! Share your stories and thoughts on this subject! Link to comment
DerrickStorm
Tbh I really like that part of bolt-action/pump-action weapons mechanics. The ammount of times when I simply panicked and forgot to pump, or I zero the target in while practicing with winchester, hold my breath, wait for the right moment aaaaaand pull the trigger only to realize that I forgot to press [R] after the last shot. Sadly I can't find my favourite Armsan since last persistence wipe... It also gives a realistic advantage for automatic weapons. If only civilian grade bullets were more common (sadly oversaturated loot table is making that hard) - I have no problem collecting 1000 5.56 or 7.62, but 9mm etc has proven to be difficult. MVP IsaiahCortez Posted February 13, 2020 MVP Share Posted February 13, 2020 That's like the bloody point of having Bolt actions and pump actions in game. Remove that, and it's the same if all guns would be semi auto... 2 Link to comment
MVP Banshee Posted February 13, 2020 MVP Share Posted February 13, 2020 I really don't see a problem here. Tap 'R' to cock the bolt, which is necessary on bolt/pump-action weapons, and hold 'R' to (re)load a magazine and/or shell. I personally really like this and use it in hostage situation when I unload the hostage's weapons as a safety precaution, cocking the bolt and removing the chambered bullet is just the roleplaying cherry on top. It's just some added realism that I quite like. Link to comment
MVP Eddie Posted February 13, 2020 MVP Share Posted February 13, 2020 Me personally I like the weapon mechanics and having to press the [R] in order to reload. If you can't remember to chamber your next bullet or shell then that's maybe not the weapon for you. I try to make it a habit to reload after I shoot but sometimes I do forget and I pay for it xD Link to comment
Legend Rover Posted February 13, 2020 Legend Share Posted February 13, 2020 Makes sense to me. Its not an autoloader. Press R to reload, hold R to put ammo in. Easy peasy. I roll with a primary that is always bolt action/single shot/double barrel/pump whatever, so I'm used to it by now. Link to comment
Diamond FalkRP Posted February 13, 2020 Diamond Share Posted February 13, 2020 -1 Back in the legacy patch, you didn't need to press R to reload, the gun would reload itself. Keep it the way that it is. Link to comment
MVP Mademoiselle Posted February 13, 2020 MVP Share Posted February 13, 2020 I like the reload, it's like any PvP shooter imo where you press R to reload. If you put the bullets into a hot bar, you can hold onto the number to reload instead. Link to comment
Guest
I'm good with how it is at the moment. It just makes certain guns a bit more complex and it's a nice feature. Link to comment
Legend Para Posted February 13, 2020 Legend Share Posted February 13, 2020 It never bothered me, except for when I'd then try to do it on another game instinctively Link to comment
Diamond Nick Posted February 13, 2020 Diamond Share Posted February 13, 2020 Coming from playing many FPS games it does get annoying for me but I like the annoyance of it. It makes it more intense in firefights that you always have to worry about sliding back the bolt to chamber the next round. It brings a really immersive experience to the combat of DayZ. Diamond Eagle Posted February 13, 2020 Diamond Share Posted February 13, 2020 I love it. Link to comment
Diamond JasonBR Posted February 13, 2020 Diamond Share Posted February 13, 2020 I've never had a problem of being panicked and forgetting to cycle the bolt. I have had times where the trigger delay after cycling the bolt has gotten me killed, but never directly forgetting. Link to comment
MVP Ducky Posted February 13, 2020 MVP Share Posted February 13, 2020 While it doesn't bother me, it definitely bothers @Franny with how often we bully her over not pressing R. That being said, no, I see no reason to change this at all, it's a nice feature. 1 Link to comment
MVP Franny Posted February 13, 2020 MVP Share Posted February 13, 2020 I still think it's a good feature though xD giving how often I use bolt action rifles irl I'm a little bit ashamed I always forget that it's a thing ig as well. 1 Link to comment
Murray
Don't have an issue with it myself. Plus it's a good way to keep count of your ammunition in the heat of battle I find. Link to comment
Emerald Cow Posted February 13, 2020 Emerald Share Posted February 13, 2020 Never had an issue with it, i love that you have to rack and bolt weapons in-game and even clearing jams by holding R for the animation which makes me feel emersed when in control of the flow and scared when you forget to rack/bolt. Jon Snow
I've never had an issue with it personally, I do forget to do it sometimes though. Link to comment
Sapphire Finn Posted February 14, 2020 Sapphire Share Posted February 14, 2020 Pretty sure the purpose of it was to watch where your bullets land while using a bolt action rifle. Link to comment
Sapphire Knight Posted February 14, 2020 Sapphire Share Posted February 14, 2020 Tbh i love it on the Repeater, i remeber having a nice akward stand-off where i was aiming at a guy and his magazine was empty only to realize that i pressed "r" a time too many and my gun was dry aswell... So we just ran back reloading Link to comment
Sapphire HDragon Posted February 14, 2020 Sapphire Share Posted February 14, 2020 No issues. Link to comment
