RUFUS
So Im new. I've got a couple hours on the server. And I play on Chernarus. Now for the past couple of days Ive been playing and in those couple of days I have had one interaction on the map. For about 3 minutes. But when I look into the home page, it always a bit split on the maps. roughly 25 people on Chernarus, and anywhere from 30-45 on Livonia. Now please comment if Im wrong, but it seems so split that interaction would be dwindling, and experience may be dropping. I know the argument to only service ONE map would be pointless to bring up. One group of people LOVE one map, and the other LOVE the other one. 6 of one, half dozen of the other. And you might also say "Well you cant force people to buy Livonia". And to squash that right now, yes you can. They've already bought DayZ. I just want to know the majority thoughts on having one server to fit the population playing. And I can see both sides. 1. You have one server. You sacrifice choice. You take away the option for the player, but it was like that for a long time before Livonia I would presume, so not the end of the world. And by sacrificing choice you gain a boost in experience and interaction. It fuels role play. Stories are started, groups are formed, all from MORE interaction. 2. You have two servers. Like right now. The player has choice. They can choose to purchase Livonia and play with the majority of players, or not, and play with the minority. This goes the other way. You sacrifice interaction. There is less experience. Less stories intertwine. Im sure this has already been discussed when Livonia was released, but hey, I'm a curious Newbie. Link to comment
MVP Duke Posted February 6, 2020 MVP Share Posted February 6, 2020 (edited) This has been discussed many times by this point, but the argument is pretty much everything you've laid out. Personally I prefer two choices rather than one. Even if the server is split I've still found loads of RP on Livonia. And not everyone has the money to pay for DLC. I gotta be honest though, I don't quite understand what you're 'arguing' for. Or what the proposed solution is. Is it because you want 1 server. Or 2 servers? Just curious how the decision was made. But if I had to choose, I would choose one server. Dont really care what map, just one. Link to comment
MVP Banshee Posted February 7, 2020 MVP Share Posted February 7, 2020 After so many years of Chernarus a lot of people started getting bored of it, so when Livonia came out it was a fresh breath of air. There were a lot of people that wanted to play Livonia, but also a lot of people that didn't want to play it or couldn't because they didn't own it. Having 2 servers meant having the best of both worlds as those who wanted to play Livonia could play on Livonia, and those that wanted to stay on Chernarus could stay on Chernarus. Population is a bit spilt, that is true, but some of the people that are playing on Livonia would most likely not be playing if we were to revert back to a single Chernarus server, mainly due to the fact that they are bored of it. If we were to make it Livonia only, then those who don't own Livonia wouldn't be able to play at all. The servers seem to somewhat fill up during rush-hours when both EU and US are playing, and during the weekends Livonia even has a queue, so I personally don't see an issue here. 1 Link to comment

In 6 months, if the population is split like it is now, should something be done? Just a thought. Link to comment

There's not much that we could do, besides forcing everyone to play on Chernarus, but I don't think that having 2 servers is the problem though. The problem here lies with the game, it's declining popularity, and the fact that people are getting bored of it. Link to comment
Fuhqnugget
2 servers. Why limit choices? I've moves my character from Chernarus to Livonia, eventually I'm pretty sure a lot of us will move back at some point. I'm just waiting for Chernarus to be updated with an overgrown aesthetic like Livonia Link to comment
cmohr
I think the two servers thing is awesome, but I wish there was a map other than Livonia to play. With Chernarus dead most of the time and having 60+ people consistently on Livonia, it pretty much puts a paywall on the server. I personally refuse to buy Livonia, as I'd rather not spare 13$ to play on a single server (I'm not exactly rolling in cash). However, at the same time it's not really fair to the people who did buy Livonia and who have active RP storylines to just shut the server down. Yeah it sucks for players like me but hopefully Chernarus sees some population come back soon. Link to comment
Jim Smokes
When the active player count dips a little, threads pop up about different ways to get people back on S1. This happened while there was a second chernarus server, Deer Isle was up and finally Livonia. But the issue with closing one is that when the player count goes back up, people immediately complain about there not being enough slots and then want another server to be up. Of course you could bump the player count on S1 past 80 to say, 100. But that has been tried before and the servers can't really take it and it becomes unplayable (Reportedly) So I usually see both threads and both arguments and then nothing happens haha. Guest
It was already discussed in here and here and also here. While understandably the population is divided, servers usually pick up lots of people during the evening. Also there is the thing some groups made a jump to Livonia to experience something different, which is normal at this point. Many have grown tired of Chernarus and would rather experience a new map with different challenges and a different way it's laid out. Link to comment
Emerald Maybelele Posted February 7, 2020 Emerald Share Posted February 7, 2020 I’d rather have 2 servers. As much as i love chernarus im really enjoying livonia. But then again i dont feel like servers should force people to buy a DLC like some other server(s) have done. Also i’ve played Chernarus for many years now as alot of other people, so S2 brought back the «Where the fuck am i» feeling and its awesome. Even tho the map is fairly easy to get a grip on and remember Link to comment
MVP AndreyQ Posted February 7, 2020 MVP Share Posted February 7, 2020 I think Livonia will do just fine without the 2 people playing on Chernarus. 3 Link to comment
Legend Kerkkoh Posted February 8, 2020 Legend Share Posted February 8, 2020 Chernarus is boring. Any other map will do at this point, even Livonia. Never get stuck in the past, always move forward even if it hurts Link to comment
