Auto run.

Very simple suggestion, add auto run/walk onto our servers most games already have this feature but DayZ seems to be lacking.

It would be nice to have it if you are actually monitoring it. But i can already see someone turning it on and running past others when not at their pc. Might cause some issues?

I would like to see this IG. As long as someone is using it running through endless fields and forests it would be nice to have but of course people would have to use it at their own risk.

I think this is a good idea but at the same time, I hope any rule breaks that may occur while being away would be the same as if you were there if you've gone AFK. Don't want to see any reports with "I had just stepped away for a minute and XYZ happened" as a defense.

I voted yes, but instead of auto run/sprint, just make it auto jog. Also, if you have an object to shove into your keyboard, you would have had auto run for years now...

Only problem is that there isn't unlimited stamina on the server, so auto run wouldn't be as helpful. It would be more like an auto-walk mod.

Not seen anyone do it so far with their random coin knife etc, why is a macro any different?

It would be way too risky to rely on a convenience feature (I guess slamming your 2 cents is like a manual switch or weakest deterrence, or maybe your keyboard just doesn't allow it :P) in my eyes.

Sure, sometimes it's handy but if I think of the terrain you might traverse or end up in, running into players, infected, animals or falling off a cliff in absence is too risky. If you just need a short piss you could take a risk but then again you don't lose too much either if you aren't away too long. Like-wise, the longer you are away, the bigger the abstract risk.

 

Even if we had it and people would use it, I wouldn't due to the abstract risks, assuming I was in normal survival mode. If I just died and wanted to get somewhere, ah well... why not

-1 from me , we travelled whole livonia with @DerrickStorm  yesterday,  we interacted with several people , we explored new places ,during hike you create rp and create storylines.

If people want this mod for reaching their teammates, i don't know what to comment. Its just 10 15 or max 20 minutes. If you dont have time , why dont you play the game when you have wide , free and relax time ?
If people want  a break during run , log off first , make your eyes rest , make some body exercises and log in again.Why autorun mod ?

Quality of life updates usually are just gives people a reason not to jam their keyboards with whatever they can find or download random macros that can bug out.

Not sure what RP I get from running in an empty forest or a field that is so great you disagree with it, if I wish to stop press the key again.

I would much prefer a simple mod that allows me to just press an 'auto run' key rather than having to jam shit in my keyboard or weigh down the key with a battery, etc. I believe most people are in the same boat, hence the request for the mod versus just leaving it. If people are doing it anyway via mechanical means, what is the difference / harm of allowing it via a mod? Unless it is very script heavy and will screw up the server, I don't see an issue.

Most people dont know how the macro works, and aint gonna try to hard to get some homemade hack.
