Growing up in small town America prepared Mason for situations like this. He grew up in rural land learning about hunting, fishing, farming, and everything required to live off the land. As a boy Mason's father would take him out to his grandparent's farm to fish and watch as his grandpa farmed the fields of corn and beans. Mason found all of these trips with his father boring. He thought it was stupid and that he'd never have to use the skills. Mason's interests were focused on tech oriented things. Eventually it was time for Mason to go to college and at 18 he went off to college in a foreign exchange program. A grant was given for Mason to begin his studies in Chernarus at no expense of his own. That spring Mason took a flight to Chernarus and landed in the north eastern airstrip and was taxied to Krasnostav, which is where he would be schooling. Just a couple months later, the outbreak started. Now Mason is forced to live how he previously despised.
