Ben was born on the 12th of September 1991 to a fisherman and his wife. Ben's childhood was a simple one, giving him a chance to experience the life of maritime and giving him a passion for the sea.
After Ben completed secondary school he chose to go into a similar career as his father and left home as a deckhand on a local commercial fishing boat that travel up and down the west coast of New Zealand. Ben did this for 5 years from the age of 18, this gave him invaluable experience and a foothold into his career.
After his time as a commercial fisherman Ben decided to become a deckhand for a international operating cargo ship that would take him around the world.
With the support of his family he went out and experience the world from port to port.
During the time of the Chernarus conflict, the cargo ship that Ben was working on was moving cargo in the Atlantic Ocean between the Mediterranean Sea and the USA.
Ben had always been attentive to the news of the world and grew increasingly concerned upon hearing the escalations between each side, as time went on only bad news came over the radio.
He had been seriously considering moving ships to another in a less war torn area but unfortunately his deliberation went on for too long and on July the 21st 2017 a large storm forced their ship into Chernarussian waters. Instead of risking life and limb, the crew chose to beach the ship.
Upon impact with the shore the cargo ship sustained catastrophic damage to it's hull.
The severity of the situation was not fully understood by the crew and only once the storm had fully past two days later did they see burnt out husk of a country that they were now forced into.
Once they were on land there was only radio silence from the outside world.
With their now gaping hole anything was able to wander into their ship.
Ben and the crew were able to fight off scavengers; dead or alive but eventually had to abandon their home, Ben chose to head into the wilderness with 3 other crewmen.
As time went on Ben's hope that one day they might get rescued dimmed and one by one his crew became injured or lost.
Now alone Ben wanders the wilderness, trying to help other survivors; trying to survive.
Silence from the outside world only made Ben realise that this may not just be an isolated incident.
Hope fading as the days dragged on.
