Eddy was born in the suburbs of Chicago. Growing up, his grades were not that great. His dad was an alcoholic and mildly abusive toward his mom and he hated it. His dad gave up on Eddy in middle school and simply stopped talking to him. His mom wanted him to succeed and hated seeing the same issues she had growing up. His mom loved him, despite his flaws. She wanted to do anything in her physical and mental capacity to help him succeed. He seemed to not be capable of doing anything. His mom would ask him to do chores around the house, but he would just sit and play video games instead. When confronted about not completing responsibilities, Eddy says he forgot. Eddy lacked friends, because he did not put in the effort to keep them. He knew his mom didn't ask much of him, but he didn't seem to try to get better. Eddy would often come home to his mom crying, and his dad gone.
One night, Eddy came home to ambulances in the driveway. He was shocked. The paramedics told him that his neighbor found his mom dead on kitchen floor, and his dad gone. Her head seemed to be beaten up by empty bottles of hard liquor. The paramedics then told him that his dad was also killed in a drunk driving accident. Eddy did not know how to process this information, so he just ran. He kept running until he ran out of breath and then ran some more. He woke up in the hospital. Since Eddy was a minor, and had no other possible guardian, he was put into a foster home. The home noticed his motivation issues, and got the house psychiatrist to do a mental evaluation. The doctor concluded he had major ADHD. Eddy hated the foster home, he was always bored and none of the other kids liked him. Eddy stole money from the foster home and ran away. He lacked a passport, but he somehow managed to sneak onto a random plane by crawling into a huge suitcase that went to Chernaurus.
