Ronan was born and raised within the confines of a withdrawn, isolated community deep in the heart of Ireland. Fírinne was a small, ancient village founded by religious outcasts who had fled persecution by zealous Christians, unwilling to renounce their pagan beliefs and traditions. As the passing years turned to decades, then to centuries, the people of Fírinne were exposed to spiritual insights and revelations that transformed their beliefs and culture. Faith was drawn away from the pagan deities of the past, and transposed to the Prince of Darkness.
The O'Rourke clan was one of the oldest families in the village, and could trace their lineage back to the founders that had first settled their land. Ronan's early years were simple and peaceful, brought up by parents who loved and cherished their son, and surrounded by a community that valued compassion for one another. His religious indoctrination began at a young age, and had been taught aspects of their faith as soon as he could manage a few comprehensible words. It was in the midst of these teachings, after the boy had turned five, that He first whispered in Ronan's ear.
