In 2019 Avery was studying for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at California State University Chico. Life was fine but after 2 very similar and boring semesters, Avery saw a pamphlet describing studying abroad. After discussing the possibilities with her counselor, she brought the question home to her family. It took some convincing but they finally agreed to help her financially, with the move. But now she had to pick a destination, the pamphlet described a beautiful Madrid, a classy London, and an unknown Norway. Everyone around her argued whether Madrid or London was the optimal choice. But after researching Norway's wildlife & nature, she knew it had to be the optimal choice.

So soon she started packing and saying her farewells to everyone around her, she was embarking on a solo adventure to the University of Tromsø. Not knowing what to expect or what would come.
The first week in Norway was incredible, she moved into her new apartment but didn't spend much time decorating or getting settled she had to go out and experience this place that felt so different but so familiar. On the flight in she was worried sick that she wouldn't be able to talk to anyone, but soon after landing she realized everyone spoke fluent English, just with a cute accent.

Her third semester started a few weeks after she arrived in Norway, she soon made friends and started to settle in, in Norway. So much that at the end of her third semester she renegotiated for a fourth in Tromsø, also with the current talks of some disease going around, it seemed like the safer place to be. One morning in October she is awoken abruptly by her roommate complaining loudly about not being able to submit her due term paper because for some reason she couldn't get on the internet. Both confused they spend an hour or so trying to restart the router, but for some reason, they cannot access anything on their phone either. So curious and in need of internet access they go down to a local café but also here they are experiencing issues.

Not knowing what was going on, they get told by the University to stay home until they hear otherwise. So they make the best out of it and prepare for a girly lockdown together. Avery's roommate hadn't been able to get in contact with her boyfriend tho and a few days into the lockdown she convinces Avery to let her try and reach him. See he lived in a city about 3 hours from Tromsø so she had to take their shared car. She promised to return the day after, with or without him. Sadly that was the last Avery ever saw of her roommate.

Going crazy in her apartment, drove her to go on a bunch of hikes in nearby mountains and hills, nothing happened or was heard in the little city for a while. Around the end of October strange rumors went about in the little city and some people started to act weird. Nervous and alone, Avery met a group on one of her hikes. They had been traveling North after hearing disturbing news about the current situation. Avery didn't have anything or any reason to stay in Tromsø, and these people spoke about information and safety up north. So she asked them to wait an hour while she packed the most important stuff she had laying around. And soon she was headed up North towards something called Nyheim
