Alan is ex military, he was in the middle of service when the outbreak hit. His unit was withdrawn from service in Afghanistan as part of a UN piece keeping unit. When the outbreak started his unit was flown oslo to try to contain the outbreak. Just days after the unit was over run by survivors and then the infected. Alan's unit was over run and he barely escaped with his life. Injured from battle with little supplies Alan took refuge in woodland areas with little population to heal his wounds and hunt for supplies. While savaging for supplies in a small village Alan heard cries for help from sounded like a child in distress. Alan went in investigate. He follows the sounds of the cries only to discover they were part of a trap set by a group of bandits. He was knocked unconscious and left for dead. When he awoke his supplies had been looted. He could hear the sounds of the infected drawing closer. With no choice but to run for his life he headed back into the woods. Despite his best efforts the dead had noticed him running into the woods and were hot on his tail. He thought back to his time on tour being under fire and hunted by insurance in the middle east, but this was a new fear he didn't know his enemy and the conventional rules of engagement aren't followed by the infected void of human emotion and compassion of any kind.
