Nick Hayes was born in Milwaukee, WC, US in 1996 to a moderate income level household as an only child. Nick seemed to have a couple of issues with himself though, at least that’s what people thought. For one, Nick decided to not speak until about age 6, but then something else happened. At age 6, when Nick’s parents took him on a road trip, and stopped at a diner in the middle of Wisconsin. It was in this bar, that Nick started to hallucinate that a tall man was watching him. This tall man constantly tried getting Nick to speak, but Nick refused to speak, and Nick did not speak until about age 10. This man that Hades was seeing was actually a man that died in the area around the Diner, after a revenge incident went wrong.


Another issue that this man caused was giving Nick severe clinical depression, which greatly affected Nick with his school work and social abilities. Nick’s parents showed great concern with how Nick was doing, so they took him to the doctors, in which they said that Nick should get therapy ASAP. Of course, his parents put him into therapy, it helped Nick to an extent. The man that Nick was seeing disappeared by age 14, which helped Nick a bit more, and he started to do a lot better in school. Throughout his high school years, Nick decided to do track for his school, as well as doing basketball for his sophomore and junior year.

By senior year, after his birthday, he met a girl that he was heavily attracted to, and she had the same feelings for him. They both graduated, moved in, but then Nick decided to join the United States Marine Corps in 2014. After serving 4 years in the Marines as a corpsman, he was honorably discharged from the USMC due to mental health reasons. When Nick returned home to Milwaukee, he found out his girlfriend of 4 years had decided to abandon him, and left a note saying, “I couldn’t wait, I’m sorry.”


This caused Nick to go into more of a depressive state, and he decided to move to Helsinki, Finland, and for the next couple of years, until the pandemic, he attempted to learn Finnish, and get used to his surroundings. When the pandemic hit Finland, it of course didn’t affect it much until the Full Moon Dance Festival in July. Nick of course, decided to stay away from others, making sure he didn’t get sick, but once October hit, and the internet and TV services, Nick would be confused, and shortly after, panicked. After this, he decided to move a bit north into Oulu, thinking it’d be safe for a while, in which it kind of was, until about late December.

When the violence from the infected grew, and the invasion of Finland by the Russians getting somewhat worse, Nick decided to flee to Nyheim in late December, knowing that it was in a remote place. With this, he got into his car, and drove from Oulu to Nyheim. Whilst he was driving, he ended up crashing his car, he walked the rest of the way noticing people were starting to attack each other, and police were opening fire on the infected, Nick decided to flee out of the area on foot, leaving for Nyheim.


Even in the cold, Nick pushed and pushed to Nyheim, getting closer and closer, sticking to main roads, and eating from roadside places, and natural plants. By January 14th, Nick made it to Nyheim, in search of refuge.
