My name is Archie Sullivan.
Growing up I was always mixing in with the wrong crowd getting myself into trouble, I was a well liked person when I was a teenager. I would of been classed as a people person. I didn't like awkward situations, I would always make sure a conversation was flowing with whoever I was with wether or not I had just met someone or i knew that not everyone I was with got along. I had many fights as a kid and as a result of this I learnt to become very good with confrontation.
When I turned 20 I got my head down, I had a few eye openers in life which made me realise how important certain things are and to make the most of what little time we have as humans so I got closer with my family and started to realise the sort of life I wanted for myself. I finally agreed to go shooting with my dad, he was always trying to get me to go but I was never really interested, I'm not a perfect shot but at least I could tell my friends I knew how to use a gun properly.
I am a railway maintenance and renewal worker. I have been doing this job for about 3 years. A big track renewal job has come up for the company which is going to be taking place off the borders of Russia and Takistan in a place called Chernarus. It's too good of an opportunity to miss. We are told we could be staying out there for 3 months. The company have offered very good money along with accommodation in a little town called Solnichniy. my parents have passed away. I got no girlfriend, no commitments to stay here in London, England. Apprantly the railway we are renewing runs through the coast line which is also where we are going to be staying. Its going to be exciting to see some foreign culture.
Me along with other track workers from my company fly out to Chernarus on April 27th 2017. We have landed, the scenery here is out of this world, big trees, lots of green fields and forests. It feels a lot different to back home in the city but little did we know about all the protests that were accruing until we actually got here. It's strange arriving here because it just goes to show you really don't know everything that is happening in the rest of the world..
We have been here for just over 2 months now at roughly around the 7th of July. Word came out from a couple of locals we had met that the Military started patrolling the North. With all else that was going on with the protests and people worried about another civil war starting it all seemed surreal when i see helicopters flying over, I was starting to doubt that coming over here wasn't the best idea after all I had a terrible bad feeling about this.
On the 8th July We all decided to go for a drink before the next night of work, even the locals in the pubs here are very welcoming and friendly. We were playing drinking games all night with these 2 men they told us of the rumours they had heard that according to them all the residents in surrounding areas of the north began getting rounded up by the military. Places like Kamensk and Nogornoe. They warned us to stay away from the north of Chernarus as there was strange things going on up there.
Towards the end of evening the guys I was working with said it was the drink talking when them two men warned us to stay away from the north. That it was to try intimidate us, they called the 2 men a bluff and stupidly they wanted to go upto the north and see what was happening. This started a slight worry for me as I told them I wouldn't be going and that it was a stupid idea considering everything else that has been going on whilst we have been here.
It's the 10th of July now. It's been a couple days since my work collueges have returned, I have seen the airforce flying over to the north. I go outside and the same two men I was drinking with said everybody in South Zagoria is angry and that an outbreak of violence has struck as if another war had started. They said they spoke to friends from 'Severograd' and heard that soldiers started attacking.
It's the 12th of July now. I haven't been able to do any work as my friends are still yet no where to be seen and I start to think the worst for my them, I go outside where I'm staying in Solnichniy and see many people coughing and sneezing. Some crying and petrified, I try to ask people what is wrong then suddenly rabid aggressive locals sprinting towards people throwing them to the ground eating them alive. It was like something I have seen in movies. I immediately left where I was staying and run out for the woods in panic and desperate need to escape what was going on around me, I don't know where I am or what's happened to my friends, my phone is dead I have no contact to the outside world. I took all the supplies I could with me in a backpack before I ran, enough to last me about 2 weeks until everything is sorted and back to normal.
I've managed to break my way into a barn, it sounds like a war zone outside. Does the rest of the world even know what is happening here.. I begin to doubt myself, am I ever going to get back home alive. I have no supplies left, forced to leave in search of people and supplies, it's silent. I hear nothing except the sound of birds.. I am alone.
It's roughly been around 15 days since I first heard of military patrols happening in the north. Although I cannot guarantee that is accurate as i have no way of confirming how long it's been, what time it is or where I am. I travel as no threat to whomever I approach, I am hoping to find others as I am in desperate need of food and drink. I had no idea how bad the world I was now stuck in actually was.
