Jan de Vries, born in the Netherlands, was a traveling musician. He tried to travel the world with his music. Accompanied by his guitar he did small venues wherever people allowed him too. He enjoyed his free, ''roaming the world'' life. The only thing that slowly started to tear him down was the fact that he was always so far from his family. Sometimes this made him felt pretty lonely. Long before the outbreak, he planned to play a show in Chernarus. He arrived in Chernarus when everything was still normal. He played his show and planned to move to the next country. But after seeing beautiful landscape of Chernarus, he decided to stay for a while. He didn't have any planned tour dates left. Most of his shows were planned short based, as he never knew where he wanted to go next. So he rented a small cottage near Black Forest. He enjoyed the peaceful environment. Before Chernarus he had played in big European cities, which were all very chaotic and stressful in his eyes.
When the outbreak happened, Jan wasn't even aware. He was too isolated to even notice. He had been living in the cottage for about a month, before even realising the world around him had drastically changed. This happened when he wanted to fill up his food supplies. He went to the grocery store in Novy-Sobor, only to find out what had happened.
