His parents escaped to Canada through France when their home was Nazi-occupied Poland. His dad raised him and taught him to camp and hunt. Piotr joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 2007, at age 17 in Ottawa, Ontario, in the rank of private. Shortly after, he enrolled in undergraduate studies in Criminal Justice at the University of Western Ontario in London. While in his first year of studies, he was selected from the ranks, and appointed as an officer with the 1st Battalion, Princess Patricia's Light Infantry. After graduating from Western in 2011, Piotr completed two years of full time service with the Canadian Forces, during which time he deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina as a member of the United Nations Protection Force. During his deployment, he served in the rank of Lieutenant until one day he became separated from his group. Left alone with only the gear in his ruck, he attempted to navigate his way to the closest UN Force, but ended up in an odd post soviet state named Chernarus.
