Vyacheslav was born in Petropavlovsk while his father was there with the Red Navy. Shortly after his birth they moved back to Leningrad. While there his two brothers were born. All of the brothers would go on to serve in the Soviet Armed Forces, with Vyacheslav following his father into the navy, joining up at the age of 18. Their father instilled in them a deep love of fishing. He would serve on a nuclear submarine during the height of the Cold War, finishing his service in the mid-1990's after the fall of the Soviet Union. After his retirement he worked various odd-jobs around Saint Petersburg, before he joined his brothers in immigrating to northern Norway for better financial opportunities. Whilst there, they joined a fishing club of which his brother Kirill later became President. He is a hard naval man, with strong Soviet values instilled in him from his childhood and his time in the navy. He still distrusts the west and is very idealistic about the old Union. He prefers to speak Russian where he can rather than speak English.
