Jonas had lived a somewhat sheltered life in Oslo before the city ceased to exist. Growing up middle class in western Oslo didn't leave him many challenges growing up, except for his parents divorce and some moderate peer pressure during high school. After high school, he still didn't know what to do with his life, and ended up doing a gap year just working at the local grocery store. Unfulfilled, he applied for different university programs, hoping to randomly stumble upon a passion. He got accepted into the landscape architecture program at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. It was hardly a passion, but he made friends, joined the student choir, and thoroughly enjoyed his time designing the occasional garden.
