Background

Bill woke up in a field just North of Solnichniy. As he began to become aware of his surroundings, he quickly realized that it was either adapt or perish. Scrounging from home to home he expected to see someone with a welcoming smile, but to no avail. There were only the decaying flesh walking where once families had built there lives upon the shoreline.

A man can only take so much before he reaches his breaking point and he was inching closer each day to his own desolation. With the certainty of his own mortality, he held up in a building with a rifle, a limited amount of ammo, and there he began to put down these walking abominations. Each gunshot that flew through the head of these "undead" was only confirmation that he didn't have what it took to turn the shots toward himself. 5 left....... 4 left..... 3...... 2...... They kept coming. Where was the end? Shaking to the core of his soul, he loaded the last bullet.

He pulled the trigger.

No, this final bullet did not pierce his body. The resolve wasn't in him. But as the howl of the gun came to silence, he heard the impossible. A voice calling out to him.

"Friendly?" This was the beginning of his journey to travel across the land looking for and helping others in need. To live with purpose and to continue to push forward no matter how dire the odds may seem.
