I had been celebrating my uncle's 60th birthday in Turkey and everything was great. Instead of my uncle, I would have probably chosen an all-inclusive packet at a hotel for the stay, but he had decided for a Green Sea - Black Sea cruise, instead. Or perhaps I would have chosen to go on a cruise, but in the Baltic Sea instead, instead of going to Turkey for that... But I digress.
Like I said, we had been celebrating the birthday and everything was great. The drinks were all pre-paid and the dinners were delicious. But then suddenly, we were in middle of an emergency. The general alarm was blaring and the crew was running every which way. At first me and the other celebraters kept on sitting at our table and noone even really talked. But then there was a full-fledged panic in the ship. I tried to stick together with my relatives but we soon got seperated at the stairs.
After what seemed like hours, I finally managed to find a way to an outer part of a deck, even though it didn't quite remind me of a ship's deck anymore, as it was already at a terrifying angle from the sea. Luckily for me, a crew member took it over from there, putting me in a lifeboat and lowering it to the sea. At that point things got a little blurry, but I remember there were a lot of us in that tiny boat. Surprisingly, we were able to reach land with no further hitches. I remember this moment. - Most people were both happy to be alive but sad because someone they'd been with was still missing. Some other boats had landed and we were trying to meet up with them to find our loved ones.
It was at that point that someone screamed at an incoming body and soon after that another person screamed in pain. Then I saw that more of these things were coming. Once again, everyone was running to save themselves. I've no idea how many made it, but once again, I was alone. I managed to find temporary shelter at a house where I waited could finally rest a little and think about what had happened.
