Background
My name is Julian Cruz, but you can just address me as Cruz. I came to Nyheim with my parents and my older brother in late August of 2017 from America. You see my father was a journalist obsessed with the rich history that we all know and love about Nyheim. Specifically, he was obsessed with the H1N1 outbreak in 1918. Too obsessed. We moved into this little quiet house with decent land in the backyard. My father from that point on really just spent his time on his work after we got settled and really stopped talking to everyone.
For the most part throughout my normal life here in Nyheim before the outbreak I was home schooled by my mother. I hated it to be honest, I came from always being in a public school so now it was just extremely difficult to really meet anyone my age for a time. I didn't really talk to my father much he was always working or talking to people trying to absorb as much information as he can from what happened back then. I spent my days reading, shooting old beer cans with my older brother John, and doing manual labor around the house. Whatever needed to be done to keep my mind off the insane boredom I had from being stuck here in Nyheim. But now come to think about it, I miss the boredom and the quiet.
Fast forward a bit now we're in 2021 and everything went to hell. In 2019 the first cases of AVM-FLA-19 started to break out. My parents and brother tested positive AVM-FLA-19 so I never saw them again. These days I don't really have much time to think about what happened to them anyways. The problem now is we're at a point where even if the virus doesn't get you, you'll most likely die in the fighting. I came here because of another man's obsession with something that occurred in 1918 and now I'm stuck here for what has felt like over 100 years. Like nothing has changed at all, time just froze before anyone realized.
