Peyton, felt stuck in her dead-end job. Seemingly endless days of filing papers, re-filling coffee, and composing e-mails for her sleazeball boss started to feel like a hand slowly choking the life out of her. The only thing that truly calmed her after a long day of work, was throwing her hair in a ponytail, donning a sports bra and attending her boxing classes. It was like a gateway drug to her, it wasn't long until she felt herself totally consumed by this new lifestyle. Many questioned her new-found obsession, and sent gentle reminders to still take time to relax, and not to overdo herself. The rush of endorphin slowly filled her with a new-found confidence, and found her a new sense of strength she never thought possible. Strength not only in her body, but in her entire being. It was that strength that gave her the confidence to quit the job that was making her miserable, and learn to take on something new.
When the opportunity to push herself further than ever knocked, she took it without hesitation. Peyton knew that hiking the length of the 5,500 mile-long Great Wall of China would be a challenge to even the most seasoned of athletes, but it was the one luxury she allowed herself before taking the chance to get back into the job search. She quickly planned out her trip, not wanting to waste any time sitting around her apartment in anticipation. In a week's time, she was packing for her early morning flight from Toronto to Beijing.
As a nervous flyer, the in-flight service helped her come to terms with the fact that her feet would be off the ground for a total of 18 hours. The relatively calm feeling the liquor/gravol cocktail gave her was quickly squashed when half way through her journey, the cabin started filling with smoke. The captain urged the passengers that it was merely a small malfunction with one of their instruments, but the relaxed voice over the intercom didn't do much to help her qualm subside. They made an emergency landing in the small country of Chernarus, a place she had neither heard of nor wanted to visit.
