Growing up as a fisherman in China Ling Long was never a very rich man. He spent his days and nights on the ocean hauling in catch after catch. It was a hard life, a long life, a life without much of a future.
Ling Long grew up in a very poor part of China. Even though he was good at his job he never had enough money to support his very large family. In China it was his job to support his brothers, sister, mother, father and all the other members of his direct family. So even though he would be out to sea for weeks, sometimes months, he never could make enough to take care of them all.
It was the dead of winter in China when Ling Long first heard of a very rare fish. He was selling his catch in the marketplace when he happened to over heard a word he had never heard before… the word was Caviar. It was a word that he didn't understand and didn't know, but would learn to respect and love.
He would come to find out that Caviar is the eggs from a fish found in the Black Sea. He would also come to learn that just one pound of this black gold would be worth 64,000 Yuan Renminbi (About $10,000). That’s about what he would normally make in a whole year.
Lets just say, this was a no brainer for Ling Long.
By springtime Ling Long was all set up to start his new fishing life in the port city of Elektrozavodsk. He had spent almost every dollar he had getting his fishing license, permits for his boat, the tackle and bait he would need. Everything was perfect. It didn't take very long till the money started rolling in. The stories he had herd were true, every one of them. He found the rare Beluga Sterion, and he found the caviar and just as quickly… he found the money. Before he new it he had more money then he new what to do with. He sent so much of it home to his family but he still had so much more. Ling Long was able to purchase a second ship and even had a second crew that he had to pay. Things were going great.
Summer came quickly for Ling Long. Being a fisherman he never was able to pay attention to the news. He didn’t know what was happening. Even if he did know, it would bother him because he was a fisherman and was rarely on dry land. But there was one thing that did worry him, One GIANT thing. It was mid July when he woke up to the giant problem. His first mate had woken him and told him they were practically surrounded by war ships. Ling long went up to the deck and took a look around. He saw a sight he had never seen in his life. Hundreds of boats, many of which were giant war ships. Ling Long had no idea what the hell was going on.
His boat was quickly confiscated and Ling Long was ordered to return to the city. He was told that no boats were permitted to leave Cherno, but he wasn’t told why.Ling Long would learn why pretty quickly.
Hours and days quickly turned into weeks and months. Ling Long moved from one city to another, One town to another. He supported himself by trading and selling the rarest items he could find. Ling Long turned from a fisherman into a salesman. He learned what was important, what was rare, what people would spend lots of money to get. But Ling Long never forgot that these were people. Some of them desperate. Most of them juST needed help, help that wasn't coming from anyone else. Ling Long had a vision, a vision that needed to come true.
Ling Longs Trade Post was born.
