Elmo Adams was born in Limerick, Ireland, to parents both engaged in active military service, a father in the Army Ranger Wing of Oglaigh na hEireann and a mother in the Irish Naval Service. Destined for military service, he completed his LC at 17 and enlisted in the Defence Forces on a three-year contract on the day of his 18th birthday.
Upon being selected, partially due to his stellar career history after serving five years and re-enlisting on a three year contract, for ARW training, also partially due to his father's connections, Adams completed training with top scores and began his probationary period serving with the ARW. After the Chad Incident, Adams grew disillusioned with the government's support for wounded Irish veterans and decided not to re-enlist on the date of his contract expiring.
After making contact with a friend linked in to the private security circuit in Dublin, Adams learned of a vacancy in an up-and-coming PMC group, Cerberus International. After passing initial screening and departing Ireland, he signed up fully with the company and accompanied them on their mission to the troubled South Zagoria region.
