Daniel lead a rather unassuming life within the Netherlands, getting decent grades during his youth and being an avid enjoyer of the outdoors. He took after his father, taking up a job in the construction business. With business in high demand due to the ongoing housing shortage within his country, he made a good living for himself. He eventually scored a contract outside of his country near the North Cape (working on a small resort that was in the process of being set up).

While in Norway to work, the epidemic slowly began. While Daniel noticed very little of it at first, being in a relatively remote area of the country, he too began to pick up on the chaos that ensued. Much to his dismay, he was left with no option to return home when the situation worsened. Following the broadcasts to get to safety, he travelled with a couple people from the North Cape to reach the "safety" of Nyheim.

He arrived alone in the end (his mental health questionable at best). With the world crumbling around him, his mind sought for ways to justify the end of it all, as nothing in life had prepared him for this.
