Jack joined the Army at 18 and served as a Tank Armored Crewman, reaching the rank of E-6 as a squad leader. Jack qualified Expert his first attempt and is an excellent shot. After the Army Jack moved from job to job as he became bored. Worked as a Private Detective in Pittsburgh, Chauffeured limousines, also in Pittsburgh. Jack has had various jobs from janitor to restaurant expediter, valet, lot attendant, factory worker, among other things. Jack was a prepper and was quite put out that none of his preparations were adequate to deal with the current crisis. Jack had a year's supply of food, ammunition, firearms, water filtration, among other things.
Jack sat pat until the first wave of infected ran it's course and the panic subsided but when it became clear the US was overrun and untenable he had to accept that he'd have to put himself at the mercy of the evacuation ships and those running them. Jack was forcibly relocated with only the stuff in his pockets, loaded onto a ship, and wound up in Chernogorsk for a time, where he had a small factory building he'd squatted in in the industrial area near Cherno Military. Zeds, as he calls infected, were infrequent there as there was little to attract them, and people came and went from the military post to loot it but nobody noticed or bothered him. The authorities decided that that area was too infected and Jack was one of the lucky few that tested negative and was allowed to board a ship yet again, once again with little more than was in his pockets. This time he was dropped off at Nyheim. Jack does not know any other languages than English but does have friends around the world from his online gaming. He took to using his gaming nickname so that if he ran into people he knew from online, they would know it was him. Jack also was a ham radio operator and so had contacts using his callsign through out the world.
