Background
Having grown up into a logging family about 3 hours from Vancouver, Nathan's future was destined as a lumberjack like his father, and his father before him. Though at a young age Nathan found an interest, which later developed into a love for hockey. Having made it to the last round of tryouts for the national youth team he was ultimatley rejected on a technicality. It was during this troublesome time a few weeks after that, that someone broke into his house. After threatening Nathan and his sister his father Harold stepped in, and was ultimatley shot, and later died. After this Nathan enlisted in the military, as he thought it was the only way to cope/get away from his grief and anger. On his 3rd patrol of his first tour he got into a very close hand to hand fight in which he was forced to slowly stab the man through the heart while looking into his eyes. After that, he swore off violence as a pacifist, and soon converted to Christianity. A few years after he returned from duty at the age of 24, he was quite happy taking part in his local and provincial level hockey as a very well known and reputable coach and mentor. He was chosen as a coach swap with 11 othre coaches, to go to parts of Norway while 12 Norwegian coaches flew to Canada. It was on his way here that news of the outbreak got out, and all air traffic was grounded. Being forced to land at the nearest Airport in the region it was chaos, as living and dead alike rushed the gates and fences in every direction. It was so chaotic he wasn't even able to read the name of the airfield sign he hit his head on while running away to safety. Nathan has since become non religious, but keeps his pacifist ideals, only ocasionally hunting. Though much like Native Americans, any animal killed is payed full respect and used to the fullest extent. Nathan longs for a way to return to his family, if they're alive but has slowly lost hope. Instead tries to focus on bettering the world he's in, not the one he remembers.
