Background
He developed a habit of spending time with nature as he grew up spending his formative years in the beautiful lakes areas of Tromsö, Norway. It was there he learned how to survive in the wilderness with hunting, fishing and trapping animals. He later studied at UiT The Arctic University of Norway biology and took courses through The Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT) to become a tour leader for arctic mountain top expeditions. In his mid thirties he became a well known face in Norweigan television through the program Den Overlevende (The Survivor) which follows Knud expeditions in the northern latitudes.
In fact, he had more than 94.5 thousand followers on Instagram and also more than 18 000 fans following on his official Facebook page before the outbreak.
Since September Knud has been in Nyheim to record a Christmas special program for Den Overlevende (The Survivor), with no clue about mutated AVM-FLA-19 or how society has transformed since mutation.
As Knud comes down from the mountain regions of Nyheim he meet two survivors at a cabin. They tell him about the situation and Knud can not believe what they are telling him. In the middle of the conversation a infected attacks the group, and Knud is in shock as what he is witnessing. One of the survivors takes an axe to hands and massacre the aggresive approaching individual. Still, he can´t put the pieces together and he runs off. His plan was to get to the airport north of Nyheim to take the plane back Oslo. As he approaches the airport he now realises what has happend. From a distance he is observering the movements of the infected people on the airport. He decides then to go back to the people he met at the cabin, since he knows no one in the region.
As the night has fallen, back at the cabin, the survivors he first stumbled upon are gone. No trace left behind and he decides to head to town to get more information of what has happend and the possibilities of leaving Nyheim.
After interacting with the PLIKT, which told Knud there is no way at this point to get out of Nyheim, he doesn´t believe what is being said to him. He decides to head north to explore the region further and hopes to get some other information. He stays for a couple of days at a community called New Haven. There he rest up and meet different people and hears different stories from the new world. One morning he decides to again head south, after meeting with a survivor looking for his brother. He tells Knud that there is a WHO camp, where they could have some radio contact with the outside world. Knud decides to get in contact with the WHO and hopes through that to be able to get some more information about the state of his wife and kids.
Days after days Knud searched for some of the WHO in the northern parts of Nyheim, with no success. The camp he found felt abandoned and he decided to return south again, to continue what he always been doing to survive with hunting and fishing. With little hope, he mostly sits down by a fire waiting for something to happend.
